Well service not due till May, gets in the car last week bing service oil light comes on. Thinks to myself i'll do that the weekend go to pop the bonnet bloody cable snaps  . Thought sod it book it in for service early rings Essex Ford book it in for service tell them it needs a new cable as cant get bonnet open. Drop it off this morning tell them again it needs a new cable as cant open bonnet. Phone Them at 14:00 to see if it's done one moment the service desk need to talk to you, Hello i'm sorry your cars failed it's mot, realy i say that's funny as it was not in for an mot only a service & to have a new release cable fitted. Oh we need to order the cable as not in stock, what even though i booked it on the phone yesterday & told you this morning? Now every time i've had my car serviced & they've found someyhing that needs doing the parts have been there within two hour's if they've had to get it in. Looks like someone did not make a call for the parts to me! Then they say my aircon needs a service due the age of the car (08 plate) Oh i say you only done it last time it was serviced :/ . Then they tell me my brake pads are low & need doing 65% on the rear & 45% left on the front £190 for the front & £180 for the rear  no thank you very much, taking the wee wee i think not the way to keep hold of a customer who has taken all three mondeos he's had to them. Oh well rant over time for a cold one.

They are not referred to as Essex Fraud for nothing. I could write a book on the farce of them trying to fix the wife Galaxy transmission. Total utter wasters. I used to have to go to Ford dealers as part of my job when it was at the Watchdog stage, 99% of the time the dealer had told a pack of lies and failed to attempt the simplest of fixes.

For a moment there I thought this was going to be about the old V6 3L Ford Essex engine :D

Plus + 1 on that.

I was hoping it was going to be on old Classics. Ford Cortina Mk2 3.0 Lit V6 Savage.

Ford Capri Mk1 3Lit V6 Mk2 3L V6 Mk1RS 3.1. Ford Granada 3 Lit V6 GXL & GT.

The Sweeney Granada. The Professionals Capri. 70s 80s Happy Days.

The technicians are on a bonus to find faults on your car mate simples, one of my mates was a ford tech in norfolk, all my cars have been serviced at a local garage no way would anything I own go near a main dealer, my company cars had to go main dealer, my A4 was the most expensive car on the planet , the amount of things that would apparently need changing even though many were done last time thank you vindis Audi and goodnight

Most the main dealers do there is a Vauxhall dealers by me I can honestly say they treat there customers terrible when it comes down to repairs and servicing they just try and rip people off especially the old dears who think they are getting the job done properly they just make things up as they go along it must be border line illegal.

The listers group have a terrible reputation for it - with any make of car.

Just look online for customer feedback. I looked at the service and work charges for an old lady the other day,,,,,, a car she bought new seemed to need all fluids replaced each year with all the associated disposal cost, wipers every time, brake pads and sometimes discs, rubber boots on CV joints, always lots of bulbs broken..... the list went on ...... a Honda that does 4 K ish a year each year then sold after 3 years!

I then looked at the costs for her previous car (also bought new) and that was the same! ripping off OAP's they were a disgrace.

I had a run in with a garage some years ago for a friend who had her car back from the garage with a HUGE estimate repair bill for MOT preparation. I tackled them on the "rusty axel" in an "unsafe state" and pointed out that I had borrowed the car just a few days before and filled it with roofing tiles and asked them to show me where on the axel was this dangerous rust .... they ran a mile with excuses! took it to another MOT centre and it went straight through as it did for a few years after.

working as mechanic myself have had customers come to me after being ripped off by main dealers gained them by recomendation and they were amazed at my prices and honesty compared to the main dealers it pays to try the small local indepent garages they cannot survive by ripping people off

I only use my local independent as do most of our surrounding villages, no way would you find me in a main dealer with my own car, i sell fork lift trucks and its the same issue, we win so much business from the big players because we look after our customers and don't try to rip them off

My local Ford dealer is nothing like this. Rear pads at that main dealer on a Mk3 Mondeo were £90 and £75 at Kwik Fit but I did them myself (think about.£25 for Mintex ones). Front discs and pads were £250 but I did those myself as well but their prices are now cheaper.

Find a dealer on this scheme if you can, looks like there's some in Essex: http://www.ford.co.uk/OwnerServices/VehicleServiceandRepair/MotorcraftFourPlus/tabid=tab3#tabs

Your dealer's prices seem way out.
