Frenchieboy
I was browsing through Youtube this morning and came across a very old video about Jack Hargreaves and Rabbiting, made long before the days of Electronic Ferret Locators and the likes. I doubt if the younger members of Pigeonwatch will have heard about or know much about Jack Hargreaves but us members of "advancing years" (I suspect) will remember him well and with great admiration and affection - He was a gentleman and a true master of countryside matters and fieldcraft and used to love telling us about countryside matters and fieldsports and sharing his wealth of knowledge while puffing away on his pipe or sipping on his glass of beer. I honestly believe that if we still had Gentlemen as knowledgable as Jack Hargreaves to mentor and teach us all they knew about fieldcraft and country matters I believe we would all be all the better for it and much more proficient at our sport and fieldcraft. I used to watch his program (Out of town) as regularly as possible and learned a lot from him - Hopefully when you have some spare time on your hands you will do a search for "Jack Hargreaves" on Youtube you too will see why I (And a great many others) "idolised" Jack Hargreaves while we were young and learning about fieldcraft! Here is the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBnFBnCO23E For those of you that never had the chance to get to watch Jack Hargreaves here are the three interviews that he did titled "Jack Hargreaves at home" which helps to understand his passion for the countryside and of course his understanding of it. Maybe we could all take a leaf out of his book! All three episoded are really worth watching! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e_jfU9eTSI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QWS77gxWB4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDKGJ-SMJ6A Edited June 7, 2014 by Frenchieboy

When that changed, so did the production and became more about him and his horses than the previous diverse country and sports. Miserable old sod apparently Still, its what got me into shooting,

I truly believe the bbc or whoever run the show . Would be very surprised as to how many people would show a positive interest .

BLACK
In 1994 I was in the gun shop in Blandford and aiming to buy a Webley and Scott 700. I had a choice of two. The one I bought and the one that Jack Hargreaves' widow had put in for sale. I didn't take it because I wanted straight hand stock and his was semi pistol grip. What a fool I was. Imagine having J Hargreaves' side x side in the cabinet.

Aled
During school holidays and only when it was raining (yes ok when i were a lad...) there used to be some morning childrens programme on i think BBC, now i watched em yes, but it was what was on after i looked forward to "out of town" with Jack Hargreves being a favourite but "about britain" had its moments to. As mentioned already filing in the country cant hold a candle to em. Cheers Aled
