On leave from deployment - Anything considered.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

Currently on leave after spending the last four mouths in the middle east.

I was supposed to go for training at the beginning of the year, but it's been delayed to 18th of this month. - So I'm currently sitting about in my parents old house with very little to do.

If anyone knows of any beating, or wants to company shooting, I'm free till the 17th.

I've got good experience in most forms of shooting, especially ferreting/pigeons.

I'm based near Snetterton, Norfolk but I'm willing to drive about. I'm pretty much free every day/night.

I've got my own gear, but my guns are currently in storage. I still have insurance/SGC though.

Thanks in advance,

Just to clear things up I work for the RFA, so I'm a MOD civilian/sponsored reservised.

Because I spend so long at sea I've given up my house/permission for the time being as I'm not about enough to do a good job of it.

I should of made this more clear in my orginal post, I don't want anyone to think I'm anything I'm not, but I did want to make it clear that I'm only about for select periods of time.

Hi Bleeh,

Don't do yourself down - there are many aspects to our strategic resources - and every cog is important

Cheers

If you think about the original post he is just asking for help and explained his situation really don't think he needed ripping apart at all.

As for being in the armed forces this is a bonus for him as there are a lot of people who will go out of there way to help because we appreciate the sacrifices people make.

If you don't like his post and don't want to help leave the section

The saying if you've got nothing good to say and all that

I'm not being an **** for the sake of it but I see on plenty of forums service guys asking for shooting on the back of the fact that they are service......well hello, but why would anyone take a punt on one rather than average joe that's asks.........

Suggest if that is your attitude you would do well to stay on the other forums you frequent, we on here are generally a helpful and pleasant bunch

Good luck to the op services or not

My 1st post was supposed to be in the intro section, however spotting this thread I felt I should reply.

I know how you feel, currently serving submariner living in Portsmouth, based in Scotland originally from Warrington. I had to put my shooting on hold for a while with being away and lost land and contacts due to not being able to devote the time to a 'permission'. when I'm home its hard trying to get some odd day shooting without dropping the forces card as I have to explain the situation, I have also got the same reaction as you about thinking we should get things as we are in the forces.

My advice is just keep asking around something will turn up. I joined this website for the very reason you are asking so hopefully some one will help you out.

Bleeh's one of the good guys on here and he's been around a while. I hope someone nearby to him will look after him.

I found that comment oddly touching.

Tightchoke is being an absolute gent and taking me out soon.

I'll keep you guys updated.

I must admit the mentioning of Service or ex service does sometimes help.

I was caught going through a red light four times a couple of years ago.

I was the fourth vehicle in a funeral procession and obviously travelling slow so didn't get through the lights quick enough before they changed to red.

Fortunately my brother was in the first vehicle, the hearse, with his belt and red beret on display and myself and my passenger could be clearly seen wearing our medals.

Initially there was no lee-way as it was a definitive offence, or so I was advised.

However it was at the same time other lads were being brought back through Wootten Basset and the public were all behind the forces.

I mentioned a few things about my brother and the rest of the guys in the column and how between us our service might be of interest to the press and how we were being teated in Taunton and shortly afterwards it was dropped.

I am convinced it was only because I mentioned that we were all service or ex service personnel and were giving my brother as near to a military send of as we could that I was let off.

Bleeh,If you are ever in my part of the world(the other side of the country) give me a call and we can arrange something,my shooting partner has had his guns in storage for the last 3 years due to "commitments" and i am sure there are many others on here serving or ex that are willing to help out others in your situation as they understand it's not a 9-5 job with your dinner on the table when you knock off.

Nice offer Tightchoke you are a Gent :good:

That's incredibly kind of you to offer, and I'll certainly keep it in mind.
