Scully
Of the two - Goodfellas, but both pale into insignificance compared to "Once upon a time in America". Yeah, would have to go along with that. While I don't think the script is as good as Goodfellas, it is worth watching for the emotionally enhancing Ennio Morricone score alone in my opinion. ollie
Goodfellas. The usual suspects & Donnie brasco are 2 others that I would put ahead of scarface.

Hamster
You have to remember Goodfellas has three strong characters with multiple story lines which makes it more engaging so yes it is easier to nominate it above Scarface but the latter was carried on Al Pacino's shoulders from start to finish. I can't stop watching either.

I can't stop watching either. Yeah, that's fair. De Palma is no slouch by any means but no one can match Scorcese directing a factual story for bringing out that underlying malevolence in such characters, leaving the audience in no doubt that the people they portray could and did kill and think no more about it than you or I would about swatting a fly. It's top notch acting of course, but it takes a top notch director to bring it out, which is why he favours the likes of De Niro, Pesci and Decapprio. It doesn't always work though; as good a film as 'The Departed' was, it can't hold a candle to either Casino nor Goodfellas, perhaps because it was a work of fiction. Despite having some of the biggest box office actors Hollywood can muster, the only convincing character in it in my opinion was Leonardo Decapprio, who is without doubt nowadays up there with the best. Fatcatsplat
Goodfellas And then "Love, Honour and Obey" Fix bayonets!!
Danger-Mouse
Carlitos Way is another corker Can`t stand that film. What`s the point of putting the ending at the beginning? Might as well watch an episode of Columbo.

Browning 425 clay hunter
Both classics. Scarface is my favourite even though it drags on in bits but the first 5 mins and the last 5mins are the best of any film. Scarface final scene is epic but goodfellas is a close second for me. Brilliant, funny and after you watch it if anybody owes you money, you can use the immortal line '**** you pay me'. ATB
