guzzicat
The Fly remake with J.B. was far better than original. Sorry meant J.G. Jeff Goldblum ,old fingers.
Gunman
Problem with remakes of period films is that unless you set it the original time frame it dose not work . The 1950 French film "The wages of fear " was remade in the 70's ,the distributor bought the rights to the original to prevent it from being shown as the remake was so bad . To much CGI in my opinion takes away from reality . You could not set something like Casablanca in any other setting than the original time frame so why bother ? pimpkiller
The problem is they tend to remake good films which is a bit pointless they should concentrate on older films that could of been good or at least bringing it into modern day era adds something to it, casino royale springs to mind

Pistol p
Can't remember a remake which was a patch on the original.the thing (1982) was excellent compared to the thing from another world (1951). But the thing (2011) was pants. Confused? Me too.
loriusgarrulus
Jason and the Argonauts might be a good one to remake with modern automatons and special effects.

Danger-Mouse
Apparently there`s going to be a remake of Kindergarten Cop (straight to video). Also in various stages of development are Ben Hur, Big Trouble in Little China and The Craft.
Gunman
Film 4 is showing [again] The Day the Earth Stood Still , OK the original had some ropey SPFX but it was a much better film over all possibly because in the original the earth did stand still , something that I seemed to have missed in the remake . Remakes I would like to see would be Metropolis and Went the day Well .

Rewulf
Dune Only because they made such a mess of the big budget original. Done right it could be awesome. Oh and Blade Runner,I think a sequel or a prequel are in the works.
Penelope
And Waterloo. Very apt given, today's date. Both given the 'Private Ryan' treatment. I'd love zulu to be re made Edited June 17, 2015 by Penelope
Scully
And Waterloo. Now your talking, and while we're at it how about The Charge of the Light Brigade? Errols version is a bit worn now. Edited June 17, 2015 by Scully
Penelope
Great film, one of my all time fave raves. Hope it's on soon. 200 years ago today, the 'scum of the earth' (plus a few Brunswickers and Prussians) gave Boney a drubbing. Now your talking. Danger-Mouse
Waterloo is an excellent idea. With modern CGI it could be fantastic. Not Zulu though. I mean, who would you cast to play Chard and Bromhead that could top Baker and Caine`s performances?

Yes I completely agree with you about the actors- Baker and Caine, well, they played the roles so well. Maybe if it did happen, it'd be a make it or break it situation. still with new Special Effects etc it'd be good too see I think anyway
Floating Chamber
CARBINE WILLIAMS......(MGM 1952 B&W) .....this time with Ross Beard (biographer) and me( Britain's foremost expert on his life, according to Ross Beard) writing the screenplay. Williams' invention of the floating chamber, enabled the first 'automatic' shotguns to function with a stationary, fixed, non-recoiling barrel. The Winchester Model 50 and 59 hit the market well before the others.
