Ive two,complete oposites.

One an o&u 26" game gun and a 28" pump action.

Pump used when in the hide for crows and pigeon and the o&u for walked up/driven and when roast shooting pigeons.(its alot easier to carry for the day)

Honestly just takes one or two shots to switch over and to remember to cycle the pump.:)

I've recently added a semi auto to my O/U. I was terrified of the money ive just laid down!

However they're a mega long term investment and considering just keeping and enjoying them both cos they're both so nice to use!

Especially when everyone else seems to own a million guns each I suddenly don't feel so bad.

A400 extreme for fowling and pigeons, miroku mk70 grade 5 for clays and driven shooting if I ever get the chance.

I shoot the miroku better than the auto at clays but could never bring myself to take it on the marsh.

The a400 has taken some real abuse in the 2 years I've had it but still cleans up like new

I've only got one shotgun, a 16g sxs hammer gun, but I'm sure I could miss with any number of other guns if I wanted. I'm half-heartedly looking for a cheap o/u 12g, just because it's cheaper to use, but I'm not 'in-to' guns as such, I just like shooting them. I do have 3 air rifles though (I did have 6 at one point) as I need one day setup, one night setup and one for my kids.

I have 4, my MK38 that I use for clays and my Hatsan Escort pump that I use for pigeon shooting. I also have another Miroku, an SW800 that occasionally gets used in the hide and a Cooey that rarely sees any use (it was thrown in when I bought my pump). The SW800 may well be sold soon. It was my first gun but it doesn`t fit me very well. My next purchase will be a semi-auto and then the pump can go too.

I`d quite happily have just one gun but the MK38 is far too nice to risk using it in a hide.

I definitely shoot better with the Miroku but I don`t feel that switching between the 2 guns I regularly use causes any real problems. A friend of mine used to have about 8 guns and would turn up with a different one each time. That definitely didn`t help his shooting.

I currently have six shotguns and that's after just recently having a clear out. :)

All my OU's fit me more or less the same and if I've been shooting my auto or pump quite a bit during the summer months it can sometimes take me a few outings to get back online with my game gun, so I swap back to that a month or so before the game season starts.

However, due to a recent purchase (and because using it makes me smile) I've been shooting an OU for all my decoying since buying it a few weeks ago so will stay with it now until the game season ends.

If you enjoy guns, one is never enough.

How many folk here own more than one shotgun? If so why and do you feel your shooting suffers for switching between two or more?

I've got a real mix. Pump, o/u's. sbs's single and double triggers different cals different barrel lengths and different rib styles. I don’t even think about it and just see the target and shoot. I am not a cartridge snob and use anything that is in the bag. It doesn’t make any difference to me at all. It’s just a load of lead going up a metal tube to intercept a target. I've got loads of guns because I just like the metal artistry and the engineering skill. The only downside is that it is like a woman going to the wardrobe and saying, "I haven’t got anything suitable to wear". Quite often I drag out an old well-worn AyA #4 that I was given just because it feels right.

If I'm on form i can pick up one of many and do pretty well, though i have preferences for different things such as sbs for game and ou for clays and muzzle loader for rough shooting and hammer gun for ferreting..If i'm not on form, i'm not on form and i can shoot shockingly no matter what gun i use, but i think you have to shoot through the bad times, and its usually due to practicing poor technique and get to the good times * edit to add aside from the BP guns and muzzle loaders i shoot the same cartridges from every gun ( hull comp x for clay, hull imperial game for game, and vip evo bismuth III for my non tox option. ) sticking to known cartridges gives me some degree of confidence.

Pair of beretta 682s that I shoot double gun days with (not often) and I use for clays.

28 bore my game gun

Others I like but get used less more as the fancy takes me now.

With work I regularly have to pick up any gun and shoot respectfully well with it, get my play time there.
