billytheghillie
Well its that time of year, and SWMBO wants a new tablet of santa. I am not up to date with all these gizmos, and that's why I appeal to the mass for assistance. She has got a old Samsung but its past its best. Now what do I buy in the price range £150--£200. Must add she would like a big screen one, about 10in. Thanks in advance.
BigEd85
I have been looking as well, and as far as I can see getting a 10 inch screen in the lower price range is unlikely :( Realistically i think you will be looking at 8" screens. Dougy
Another Samsung? I spend more time on my little 7inch Samsung than anything else, and like your other half I have asked santa for a new bigger one.
billytheghillie
Yes Samsung, but what model? in 10in.
Dougy
The 16g is within your budget but the 32g is 150 over (ish) and then there's the 4G model which is more. Do you really need the bigger memory, there the facility for 32g card isn't there.
KFC
I've had a Linx 10 with an Origami keyboard for a year now and it's been great. very good value for money. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linx-Tablet-Z3735F-Windows-Keyboard/dp/B014D847FS/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1449665966&sr=1-1&keywords=linx+

Davyo
I fell into the iTrap, hate my iMac,hate my iPhone but love the iPad.The only other tab I've had was the Samsumg Tab 10.1 which I thought was mint, plus it had the entertainment factor where you could Change the tv over with it( wife didn't know) lol I had loads of fun & she never clicked to this day. Tim Kelly
I recently got a chromebook to replace my Nexus tablet and it's so much better to use! Unless she needs something very compact I'd completely recommend a chrome book over a tablet. £200 will get you a nice one too.
norfolk dumpling
Apple IPad, even if you have to spend a little more. Mine, using now, is a hand-me-down and I'm the third user. Wife uses one as do disabled son and 94yo father in law and a couple of other family members. So easy, so reliable and she'll love you for ever. WinchesterDave
I've had Sony Xperia tablet which I really enjoyed, good tablet. The Samsung Note pro 12.2 which is a really good beast of a tablet but now on ipad air 2....my favourite of them all! so much so I'll be upgrading to iPhone when my contract is up.. I literally use it all the time and I actually take it to uni for notes ha! if you can spend a bit more any of the above tablets will serve you well...for big screen I'd go for the Note pro. It also comes with the S pen built in if you prefer navigating using it and you can write on the screen with it (it's a well integrated piece of hardware)
Jaymo
iPad mini 2-16gb is around £
Twistedsanity
i have an ipad 2 i got years back and with each succesive software upgrade that are clearly designed for the newer models with faster processors it gets slower and slower and slower, it was amazing when new but i wouldn't buy apple products again for that reason alone
sandspider
I was looking into this a few weeks back and decided that the Hudl2 was the best mixture of performance and price. Haven't bought one yet though.
Nial
I was looking into this a few weeks back and decided that the Hudl2 was the best mixture of performance and price. Haven't bought one yet though. You're too late, Tesco have stopped making/ selling them! My daughter smashed the screen on hers a month or so ago and was going to get a replacement for Christmas, looking for an alternative has made me realise what bl00dy good value for money they were. Nothing < £200 will touch the screen resolution.
sandspider
That would be why I found it hard to find one! Shame.
Doc Holliday
I've been looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 inch at under £200 for Mrs H for Crimbo. The trouble is I got one of her clients to find out if she really wanted one and she said she's happy with the phone. Typical. I might just get it for her anyway and use it myself, like you do. billytheghillie
Well after searching for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10in screen it seems no one has them in stock Been looking at Amazon Fire HD 10 for £140 think it will be this one. Any Pros and Cons?
Loki
Hi If you shop at Tesco and have the Clubcard points they are doubling them up until 24th - this makes any item bought even better value (assuming they have what you decide on). Picking up a 2TB Toshiba HDD from a local store for £9 - wont hurt if it gathers some dust........ L
