Old Farrier's punt build thread for me. Not being mechanically minded I have not followed ditchman's thread, although I have dipped in on occasions and can appreciate the knowledge and delivery.

For wit, Marsh Mans and JDog's posts and I have particularly enjoyed Conor's exploits under his granddad's tutelage. Anser2's post always evoke the sights, sounds and smells of the marsh.

Is there a prize involved? Maybe a PW polo shirt or game bag.

I never seen any thread before about thread of the year. I was just thinking the other day there should be one. Get people's suggestions then put it to a poll for a couple of weeks.

Ditchman would get my vote for such a meticulous job. Great pictures and a great write up. It matters not that he did it for a living but the time spent now taking the photos uploading them and being bothered to share his knowledge.

I probably spend more time taking pictures resizing them and uploading them than I do working on my Land Rover.

Old Farrier's punt has to be up there, but top billing is Viking's Landrover thread. It has longevity, plenty of pictures, good narrative - not too proud to ask for help - and I have enjoyed it. Anyone who is not ashamed of his Draper ratchet gets my vote.

Well done, Lee. :good:

hey, whats wrong with my draper "expert" ratchet set Mr R :whistling:

Looked like a standard Draper - not Expert - I stand corrected.

Draper Expert ratchets sit behind Snap On, Proto, Mac, Cornwell, SK, Blackhawk, Durochrome, Stahlwille, Beta, Facom (the best), Usag, Craftsman, Easco, Hi-Torq, Gedore, Elora, Belzer, Bahco, Walden, Armstrong, Bonney and a shedload more.

I've still got some old (very old) sockets from them, can't bust the things. They must be pushing 45 years old now, from my first socket set.

My Blackhawk 1/2" ratchet is my favourite. Probably about 60 years old and will be there when I am not.

Co-incidentally - my first socket set was an Elora.

Lee - if your ratchet works - good enough. It seems to be doing fine - looking at the photos. Snap On are probably the dearest, but some of the worst ratchets I have ever had.

My vote after due consideration would go to SABS thread about his shooting visits this year,

He and the Good Lady (Not forgetting wee Indie) provide such good write ups and pictures that you feel you could be there.

Thanks Shaun :good:

I have only just come across this thread and my vote would be for Old Farrier punt thread. He, along with the young lads, have created something special and the old skills have been passed down, keeping them alive for future generations.

OF's attention to detail and showing the little setbacks realy made you feel you were there with him.

I am a little biased with this thread as I have been in OF's workshop and seen the early parts of the build first hand.

Old farrier is a legend and long nay his threads continue :good:

And honoured a few thought my thread was worth a mention thank you

Although PW is a bit more than that

There would be many others for me

Ditch man and Viking for there threads

Gunman for his invaluable advice 👍

Sits and cockoff and a few others for the numerous lots of advice on Reloding 👌

Green grass for his pictures 😋

Underdog he's just a brilliant traditional no nonsense gent :-)

Big bird and lee always there with a dog problem

Scotslad you'll not go far wrong with his advice 👍

Fenboy always there with a answer a good thing when you need a bit of help ⭐️

It's a forum you need lots of posts and things to stimulate the mind maybe motivate you to try some different things so to all the contributors the title of forum of the year goes to you all 😊😊

But the biggest and best thread must be the

Orchid charity fundraiser

This for me and a few others has to be the absolute best

All the best
