pigeon controller
For the past few weeks I've been requested to reduce the amount of corvids on the sheep feeders. So with the the rain forecast and the knowledge that corvids still fly in the rain I decided to do it today. Grandad did a recce with the kids yesterday and a good number of corvids were on the field, I spoke to the shepherd and he agreed to move the sheep out of the one field so I could shoot safely. So I arrived at the field this morning with the feeders filled to the top with pellets , no corvids. Checking the wind direction and knowing the rain is comming I built the hide and started to wait for my first customer, it was now 11.00 and they started to return from a farm across the road and I even managed a couple of triples with the young birds. It certainly gives you and addrenaline buzz with two pumps and three kills. I did sort of cheat as I'd set the shot birds below some power cables that cross the field so I'd have three come to the pattern and settle on the wires so I could steady myself pop up an shoot the first then pick the others off as they escaped. It started to rain at 14.00 and it did rain but the birds continued to come but by 16.30 it had stopped with exception of the rain. I picked up one hundred and thirtythree but lost a few in the woods at the rear of the hide. When I arrived home the sun came out and it was a wonderful evening. marsh man
You looked as if you thoroughly enjoyed the experience by the expression in your photo , I am afraid I would have looked a lot worse than that , as getting wet shooting corvids is not one of my favourite pastimes . Well done for sticking it out , Top man.

Yes the nets are still hanging in the garage, I will be using them again at the weekend and possibly drying them again. I have sent a photo to the farmer to remind him of the work we do for him.
