iano
I replaced a window in the garage a few days ago, and came out today to find that some bird has eaten a chunk of it (about a 6 inch strip is gone) and there are peck and claw marks all over it. Is this normal? And when I redo this, do I need to cover over the putty or something?
Chris Bb
I knew a couple who didn't know the difference between putty and vaseline. All their windows fell out. OK, OK, I'm going.
Wilksy II
Yeah I've heard of it happening before, there after the linseed oil in the putty, it should go hard quite quick in this cold weather but maybe but some low tack masking tape over it

winnie&bezza
I was laying in bed one morning when I was younger and I heard a tapping at the window. I turned round to see a magpie pecking away at the putty. Someone else down the road was having magpies doing it to their windows too. KFC
Sorry, can't help with a solution but I used to be a stained glass artist and did some general glazing too. One morning I'd reglazed the kicking panel on a ladies back door ( no euphemism ). Early afternoon and she asked me to go back and reputty it because her terrier had eaten all of the putty out of the rebate.
