alic
Hi I am driving up to Preston this week and I wondered if anyone can recommend any good gun shops not to far off the m6 . Thanks Alastair

Gordon R
Malmo is the only one I would recommend and I have been in them all. Good stock, good prices and decent people to deal with. https://www.malmoguns.com/
Scully
Another vote for Malmo. I am like a kiddy in a sweetie shop in there, and can feel my pulse quicken as we pull up in the car park! 🙂 Edited February 17, 2019 by Scully spelling! alic
I should have said driving up from London, I have made it to Malmo once and yet to be surpassed however unlikely to get that far . Thanks for the suggestions
Gordon R
If you aren't travelling as far as Malmo, then give the shops a miss. The others are not next to the M6 and any time taken travelling to Malmo would be swallowed up getting to the others. I have traded with the other two mentioned. Bamfords isn't the same since Laurence handed over the reins and I won't set foot in McAvoys again.
matone
A shame if Bamfords have slipped ,they were good to deal with over the years !

Laurence was there last time I called in.Didnt realise he had left.So it may not be as good now.Bond and Bywaters used to be good too but not been for years. Gordon R
Laurence is still there, but shop taken over by his son in law. I have spent a few quid in there over the years, but won't be spending more. Bond and Bywater were brilliant in the mid 1980s. I wouldn't pay them in washers now. keeper96
If you’re driving to Preston then malmo is only another 15-20 minutes from the centre on the a6

That cant be right? It’ s more than likely a demo’ and not for sale, but conditions of posting on websites often stipulate a price MUST be included. You often see demo guns priced at a quid; they’re just letting potential punters know ( and see ) what they can try out if they visit the shop. sabel25
I've dealt with Malmo in the past Bought 3 guns and 5000 cartridges from them and great to deal with and they're 120 odd mile from me For a few added miles i would recomend you pay them a visit
Mice!
Welk it says its second hand beech and £150?? I haven't been in McAvoys in years because I've had no need, i get air at Bamfords and pellets. So what's supposed to be wrong with them? McSpredder
Anybody used Fawcetts lately? I used to drop in occasionally when they were located in the middle of Lancaster, but have never been to their new place.

It used to be a regular haunt of mine from before the days handguns were banned, and I bought a S1 Mossberg from them in Lancaster about a month before they moved. 8 minutes ago, BlaserF3 said: I pop in now and again, much better location and free parking, massive improvement on the old place in Lancaster. impala59
A Southerners vote for Malmo too, only been there one time, made very welcome and only dragged away by she who must be obeyed (after she bought a wax proof jacket for herself!) scobydog
Another 1 for Malmo, great place and well worth the extra 15 mins on the m6.

Gordon R
Quote So what's supposed to be wrong with them? Took a Winchester 23 - to sell for the son of a friend who had died. I was told Tim McAvoy would have to value the gun. He spent about twenty minutes aimlessly wandering around the shop, before he deigned to speak to me. I paid particular attention to just what exactly he was doing and concluded he was just killing time. He seemed keen, but said there was a dent in the barrel. I asked where it was. He told me he had experience in these matters and could see it, although my eyesight clearly failed me. I also took it to Malmo and Bamfords - neither of whom detected the dent and both offered way more than McAvoys. I don't know why he kept me waiting - possibly to put pressure on me. It merely irritated me. I thought then and still do that it was shabby. I will never return.
MarcMaxus
Another vote for Malmos or McAvoys. I use both. To be honest though I use Bamfords most and always find them super helpful.
