My understanding is that there is only a very narrow window to call a GE which could take place before Brexit date, otherwise it would be afterwards due to parliaments summer recess.  Look for a no conufudence proposal today if Corbyn et al are looming to prevent Brexit.

The Vote of No Confidence would be wasted by Comrade Corbyn if it was not achievable, that is why they have not bothered, it would just strengthen the Tory Governments position!

Added to which, despite the disastrous period for the Tories under May's leadership, Labour are not in font .......... when they should be miles in front.

Besides which Corbyn couldn't be bothered to get out of bed and go on the election trail, far too much like having to work.

A no confidence vote today would be really really dumb, hard to believe Labour and even Corbyn are that stupid.

Corbyn is playing a blinder from the perspective of all the other parties, Labour have ZERO chance of forming a government with Corbyn at the helm. Even if they formally move to a Remain Party, which is increasingly predicted, it's difficult to see them eclipse the Lib Dems with Corbyn at the helm.

One of the saving graces for the Tories is that a number of Brexiteers dislike Farage enough for the Tories to be their only option.

Boris is setting out his stall and on paper his team are pals of his and fellow Brexiteers, so they should be united and able to move forward collectively, if he can manage that then there might be enough traction to get Brexit across the line, somehow. There are plenty on the sidelines though who will be gently feeding him slack rope waiting for their moment to pounce.

Boris promised a lot yesterday, a lot more than just Brexit, let's give him a chance I say.

My Missus did 2 things this morning that I never thought would happen:

  1. She discussed politics
  2. She said that we need to give Boris a chance as he is promising to deliver Brexit and has loaded the Cabinet accordingly.

If he can achieve in 99 days what May failed to do - then well done. The EU say nothing has changed, so we go for No Deal? Never that simple I know.

I'm not a big fan of Boris but can't stand Corbyn.

Bojo is now Captain of the good ship GB, so let's see what happens. It can't get any worse - can it?

It could - far, far worse under Comrade Corbyn, Mad McDonnell, Abacus Abbott.

The Tories have split the country in two. They have brought the break up of the Union ever closer. They have done nothing over the last 3 years but squabble amongst themselves and with everyone else. All for what?

Your missus is spot on. :good:

Im glad to see hes set his stall out , with firm positive action, even remainers are struggling to find fault with his strategy.
Hes put the Mogg in a position where he can do the most good, and multi task to his strengths.
Got rid of the remainer chaff, and put key personnel in the correct places.

He doesnt need to prorogue parliament to get no deal through, he simply needs to let the clock run out, whilst looking at some WTO options or maybe working on a Canada type deal, it matters not how long that takes, as we can trade freely using GATT 24 whilst 'a deal' is being discussed, no cliff edge, no drama.
The EU have their backs up against the wall now , AND they know it.

Grant , really ?

Do we have to keep trying 'the tories did this' argument ?

The house did this, they voted for it en masse, because they had to, WE told them thats what WE wanted.

Yep really they designed the mess, created the mess and are therefore responsible for the mess. Simples.

Well in that case, if its so 'simples' a vote of no confidence will be roundly supported, carried out , tories kicked to the kerb, and a GE that will bring in a new government heralding a new era of peace and prosperity for the UK ?
Maybe something delightful like Corbyn/Swinson/Sturgeon 'power alliance' with the Abbotcus as home sec, Tankie Mcdonell as chancellor.

Sounds awesome doesnt it :whistling:

Have you considered that it might well actually be more of a dig at Labour than at Boris!?

I'm sure you are also aware that it's being misreported since it's an early day motion and as such only a topic of debate.

No doubt the first of many various stunts from both sides.

Cant see the reds getting a look in. Not with Corbyn and Mackey D. They need a new leader and to reclaim the centre ground.

The Tories can put leave in their manifesto. Be interesting to see how they describe it. Looks like the Kipper will go for a GE by his own volition.
