Vince Green
Drove back across Bodmin yesterday morning on the A30 (very exposed at the top). Very rainy and the cross winds were really pushing the car about. Not all together uncommon on that stretch of road

In 1953 over 300 people drowned in one night (100 in Norfolk) as a massive tidal surge hit the East Coast. They are right to take the risk very seriously. I quite agree , we were in the 53 floods and had five foot of muddy water in our house when the banks of the estuary burst , but we have had bigger tides since 53 with no problems thanks to the updated flood defences , now we get Yellow weather warnings every time they forecast heavy rain and strong winds . Mice!
https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/station/5010?direction=u handy gov website if like me you live near a river, ours is only a wee thing but burst its banks, we went to Preston Sunday over the Ribble and that looked ready to go, it was wet all wet all week, sodden ground high tides. marsh man
The flood risk along the Nth / Norfolk passed this morning with a lower tide than predicted due to a shift in the wind direction , so at the moment all is safe , one thing on the local news tonight was a huge amount of sand that have only been pumped on the beach costing millions have been washed away overnight due to the winds and tide , it makes you wonder if it was worth doing in the first place , if the sea is angry , it will win every time. ShootingEgg
Parts of Bristol flooded Monday evening, but nothing major.. Still think we don't take care of the rivers like we used to, at low tide Bristol River bed is a v shape, loads of silt that could be removed to allow for the water that escaped Monday evening

We had thunder and lightning for a bit while it was still light, then steady rain till about 7.00 at which point the storm passed and the power went out 😂

The Environmental folk said it's good if you get flooded because then money is made available?? little prevention these days.
