Demonstrations in london

it looks like a lot of people have a lot to say without knowing many facts. All I know is someone died at the hands of the police after being detained, I don't know why he was arrested or why the police use what would seem like a very heavy handed approach. The last time there was a thread on here about some one being killed by the police everyone was all for giving the a pat on the back.

If when the facts are known the police involved are seen to be in the wrong then they should go to prison for a long time, but I still can't see how smashing and setting fire to other peoples property is going to help anyone.

you would have heard about it little escapes social media which is why this bully killing the chap was filmed as was the police car i just watched being driven into a crowd no wonder they rioting every time this happens the reaction gets worse eventually it will be once to often then it will really hit the fan

The injustice of Harry Dunn has been mentioned in this thread. A British lad killed on English soil. Did harry get thousands marching on the U S A embassy to demonstrate their anger. Yet thousands do for an un known American who suffers and injustice on American soil. Are you able to work out why ?

I hope the protests in London pass off peacefully, as they have done in the majority of cases in the US.

From what I understand this all relates to the apprehension of a suspect in Minnneapolis by Police responding to a suspected attempt to make payment using a forged cheque.

In the struggle to constrain the suspect by four of Minneapolis' finest Police Officers, the suspect became increasingly concerned by his inability to breathe, he subsequently died.

Video footage at the scene shows the suspect begging the Police Officers not to kill him.

All four Police Officers have been fired and one of them charged with murder (3rd degree I believe) and manslaughter.

The world is waiting for answers....

I've had discussions with friends in South Africa, Kenya, Uganda and the US today. They sent me footage of some pretty hard handed tactics by the Police in various States of the US turning on peaceful protesters with what looks like pepper spray / CS gas (we are talking upfront and personal, not at distance).

I am especially close to the friends in the US, they tell me it's just the way it is there, the lady is a mental health nurse specialising in anesthesia, the gentleman a Professor of Experimental Chemisty - they are naturalised Americans originally from Kenya.

If I have posted anything above that anybody knows to be incorrect, then please comment / correct accordingly. Thanks.

Because it gives them a excuse for some anti American anti Trump protesting.  They are using his death for their own addenda, not over concern for his death.

because in this country we don’t have a pair big enough to stand up for injustice to our own people and we rather pretend it’s not happening than face the truth

Not really, but in the UK it gives the right on, woke, class warriors, professional protesters, left wing anarchists and troublemakers a chance to turn out on a sunny day, shout, act aggressively, damage property, cause chaos and if it escalates to looting...........maybe go home with a new 60 inch telly?

What, whilst the new / real version of snowflakes sit at home, frozen in fear of catching COVID?

I agree. It has absolutely no effect on my life here in the UK at all.
It will be interesting to see if those protesting in our cities use it as an excuse to loot after dark.

Personally, I put looters and terrorists in the same category WRT what they should expect from the security services.

I’m still trying to work out what bit of this horrendous episode was racist?! A suspect was identified and apprehended, what went on after that is sickening and abhorrent. But at what point did it become due to race?

That's a fair point, any idea how many white suspects have been likely murdered at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Dept this year? Asking on behalf of a black friend...

Yes you are correct but I would ask anyone who saw this just think about it you witnessed a handcuffed man pleading for his life being murdered by a man who thought he could get away with it because he had a uniform on he was cuffed and arrested for the offence he may or may not have committed that should have been the end of it, I say to the people on here oh its in America what do you expect what I would expect is if my lad went out and committed an offence I would expect him to be arrested charged and locked up not murded

This.

Absolute rubbish. It happened because the USA refused to waive diplomatic immunity. You might not agree with that, but it is a fact of life. Quit stirring.

Those who were on that march today had no respect for people who have been in lockdown , or for our NHS , who for these last few ,months have been trying to save peoples lives , or any respect for those that have lost there lives to this evil virus . How many of these in this mass gathering  may catch this virus and pass it onto someone  in there family . The people staying at home are not snowflakes  there are doing what they can to survive  and not add to the spreading of the virus .

Fair point, I also remember journalists and humanitarian relief workers pleading for their lives just before they were de captivated in the name of a warped religion. However i dont remember people reacting like they did today.  Atrocities and wrong doings happen everyday all over the world. However these hypocrites are very selective over which injustice they choose to justify their behaviour. If the poor bloke that died had been a white man we would not have heard a thing about this.

You appear to be comparing a third world terrorist / Jihadi organisation with a supposedly first world Police Force, or do I misunderstand?

1 white woman killed by a black officer, and 4 other deaths in custody recorded since 2018. I’ve not found details of those yet, but as the mayor stated 5 deaths since 2018 and nearly all were black I’m assuming that those 4 were black. (From a very quick google search, figures not fully verified)

How do you know how many of them had been observing lockdown previously?

Do you know all those present well enough to be certain they don't work or volunteer for the NHS?

I don't follow the logic as to how the protest dis-respects those that lost their lives - please explain?

Regarding your question on how many attending may catch the virus, I have absolutely no clue, maybe ask Cummings - he has an answer for everything.

I stayed at home too, or at least didn't attend the demonstration, I'm not doing what I can to survive, I'm doing what I can to live whilst the government request that I kindly follow their guidelines in order to protect those "doing what they can to survive". You see I'm not precious, despite you inferring I was homosexual yesterday.

Agreed. No idea what it has to do with the topic being discussed here either.

here’s what I found with a 2 minute search. However, I don’t know if/how these references will hold up to proper scrutiny.

Considering that Covid-19 apparently impacts the BAME community quite badly you would think that they would take social distancing a bit  more seriously.

quite-however the overhead views via Sky appear to show white Europeans to be the majority of protesters.

of course, any protester has an equal right to have their voice heard whatever their etc etc.

My wife in all seriousness asked who black Clive was. It seems she misheard “black lives matter as “black Clive matters”.

Please don't, lol, but I believe he's known as Barry around these parts.
