Charlie Anderson
So I usually travel up to Scotland every year for a weeks wildfowling staying with friends. Nicola in her wisdom has knackered that but even if I have sleep in the car I'm still planning on going.

Charlie Anderson
I have made alternative arrangements for accommodation so as I understand it visiting the same shoreline is still ok.
shakin stevens
If things get worse you wont be welcome , signs on the road into our place were erected on the last lock down stating not to come to the area . First recorded case this week, and the population is only 2k in the area. Folk know who you are, and they know who should be here . Lets hope it doesnt get worse, so folk can come and enjoy their shooting hobbies , first lock down left the place a ghost town .
billytheghillie
its people like you who break the rules, and every other rule abiding citizen suffers for it! IDIOTS
miki
Lets hope that people don't spread the virus and infect others. If its not in your village then you are safe, if someone brings it in, then you are not. If you are safe, stay away and hope others stay away from you.... it's not that hard to comprehend is it ? Dave at kelton
Hope you are happy to face a fine or worse as it’s your shotgun certificate that is on the line if you break the rules. I hope your alternative includes a stay in a hotel. Breaking the rules up here is not welcomed by any community I know and it is highly likely that you will be reported as will whoever you stay with if not permitted. We may or may not like Nicola up here but her rules have so far kept Scotland in a far better place than England.

At present Dumfries and Galloway, I.e. The Solway has stayed pretty safe and we would prefer it stayed that way. I can still see her introducing travel restrictions, particularly through the school holiday season in October.

Conor O'Gorman
Current (23 September) BASC advice is below. Make sure you visit the BASC coronavirus web hub regularly for latest update as things are evolving. Travel restrictions in Scotland have been lifted and it is possible to travel anywhere in Scotland for outdoor recreation, including shooting activities such as target shooting, recreational and essential pest control, recreational deer stalking, wildfowling and game shooting. Travel into and out of Scotland is also allowed. Non-essential retail businesses, including gun shops are allowed to open. All holiday accommodation is now permitted to open as long as establishments follow appropriate guidance. Visitor attractions are also permitted to open. From 14 September social gatherings have been restricted to no more than six people from no more than two households, both indoors and outdoors. While this obviously affects social gatherings both before and after a shoot day this will not affect the shoot itself. A Scottish Government exemption exists for “services or activities that are already exempt from these restrictions and have been permitted to open subject to their own guidance such as organised sport”. This exemption covers shooting which is an organised sport and shooting is included in government approved guidance for country sports in Scotland. We are aware that many members will be visiting Scotland in the coming months and are concerned about new restrictions on visiting other households that took effect on 23 September. We have been advised that these new restrictions apply to people’s homes, not commercial accommodation businesses such as self-catering accommodation. The rules for meeting other people in public indoor spaces that are subject to strict regulation and guidance remain the same – you can meet with one other household only and in groups of no more than six people. In addition, the Scottish Government has advised against car sharing with people outside your own household. Click here to download the government approved guidance for country sports in Scotland. So a small shooting party visiting Scotland and renting a self catering cottage for a few days will not fall fall of any laws on that basis? Not clear as there is still a two households limit in cafes restaurants and generally indoors etc. Nobody has yet said if it applies to self catering accommodation but I am enquiring due to the issues of visiting wildfowlers. 11 hours ago, Conor O'Gorman said: Current (23 September) BASC advice is below. This makes little sense to me (well, none really), but two households appear to be allowed to stay in self catering, and more if hotel or similar. I wouldn’t be surprised if this changed soon, probably just before we head to Nairn in a couple of weeks. https://www.assc.co.uk/new-coronavirus-restrictions-in-scotland-what-you-need-to-know/
Conor O'Gorman
There has been a further development. It has been clarified that the ‘one household rule’ that applies to people’s homes will also apply to some commercial accommodation businesses, including self-catering accommodation. Click here for an update from The Association of Scotland's Self-Caterershttps://www.assc.co.uk/self-catering-restrictions-2/ BASC advice has also been updated this morning.
