How deadly?

Just a word on the actual statistics (from the WHO and John Hopkins)

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/decimal-point-blew-world

Now, about all those destroyed lives, minds, businesses and livelihoods?

Or even: "Bock told CBS4 that because the victims had tested positive for COVID-19 within 30 days of having been shot by gunfire, the county classified them as “deaths among cases.”

That’s a curious definition, but one required by the national reporting rules created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."

UK numbers are calculated in the same way. it was open ended in that if you tested positive and then died at any time afterwards you counted as a covid death now its if you die within 30 days of a test i think.

My daughter just finished a week on nights on pediatric emergency at Uni Hospital Coventry. She said the dept is much quieter than average for this time of year. The social distancing and hand washing looks to be significantly reducing the number of children they would expect through the door with seasonal respiratory problems.

She and her partner only knew they had it when they were tested for anti bodies.

That's probably the first good side effect to this.

Just had a friend come in to work who just lost a mate at 53 with no health issues at all . 1 week feeling rubbish then dead.

So that’s three relatively young, healthy people you know who have died of this. Statistically that’s off the scale. I’m glad I don’t know you 😅

Just had my first covid death of someone I know.
My good friend and shooting buddy, a countryman his whole life.
Started off with a cold 6 weeks ago , positive test , then hospital, ventilator , dead.
66 years old with very mild diabetes, but apart from that, strong as an ox.

If there was anyone who I thought would survive it , it was him.
Strange disease , his mate , whos 10 years older with multiple health conditions, who caught it the same time , was virtually asymptomatic.

My stance hasnt changed, and neither would his , covid needs to be respected , but not over reacted to.
Lots of things can kill you, but only covid shuts the country down with all its consequences.

It’s pot luck. I heard of somebody the other day - 84 years, senile, bedridden, history of lung problems. Normally hospitalised once/month during the winter. Was in hospital two weeks ago and tested positive. No specific covid symptoms and still here.

Sounds bad but all friends of the girlfriend or workmate . I’ve lost enough mates recently without this so it’s kind of a blessing to me

I would vote for that but I found out my mate and his wife had it and the main symptom was beer tasted horrible for two weeks. That appalling prospect has had me wall myself into the bathroom for the next 6 months and I’d recommend everyone does the same.

May be the link wad TL DR (Too long, didn't read):

https://cms.zerohedge.com/s3/files/inline-images/covid-19_deaths_500k.png?itok=Pdb_mrnm

That is all you need.

Annectdotes means we will all, in the end, know someone whom this thing killed.

But we know more who died of cancer.

We know more who died of heart attack.

We know lots of people who die, for lots of reasons, and this is just another one, and it is no more deadly than the rest, but look what they have done to us?

To those it kills, it's 100% deadly.

Its not just about dying, some of the survivors are in a pretty bad way and no clear expectation that they will ever be any better than they are now

even people who only had mild symptoms are still experiencing exhaustion and when they scan them there is scarring on the lungs

Its a very nasty virus

Daughter says their is evidence that those with damaged lungs (smoking etc) are less likely to over generate anti bodies than those with good lungs and as a result may not be as badly affected. There lungs are less able to react to the virus.

She said that they were more likely to die of pneumonia.
