Agriv8
Not a vet - but that looks like you need a vet or horse person to take a look and a walk round field! But long could it be taking something from overhanging trees ! Maybe needs a muzzle on short term. regards Agriv8

39TDS
I'm not really sure what we are looking at. Hogweed will cause sunburn/rash/flaking skin, especially in this weather. photosensitivity Dandelions and sow thistles will cause a black/darkened tongue. Acids Oak will darken the tongue too if the leaves are chewed due to the tannins

harkom
looks like methaemoglobinaemia , various possible causes - nitrate toxicity? /red maple leaf? As an aside - looks like an old horse with a long history of crib-biting/windsucking - and may be predisposed to biting/chewing on potential source of toxins. ...well that's my 2c worth. He’s a older horse and a greedy thing although not a wind sucker or crib biter he’s been known to chew the stable door from time to time there’s not a lot of trees around the field as it on top of the cliff ive suggested your thoughts to the vet and will let you know the results of the test many thanks for your input 👍😊

Certainly scalds pigs. Car batteries cause lead poisoning rather than acid burns, quite common actually and would expect the vet to have ruled that one out.
