There is a big 'overlap' between Extinction Rebellion, Just Stop Oil, Insulate Britain, and an (I suspect again big) with Anti Capitalist, Socialist Worker, Momentum, and the old Militant Tendency lot etc.  There will no doubt be commonality with LACS and similar Animal Rights groups.  Basically - it is about attacking 'the Establishment' which is why they target Harrods, Fortnum and Mason, Farlows, Rolex, William Evans, the Ferrari showrooms etc.

Just the usual troublemakers, different name, same game.

Yup, totally agree. Their demands aren't going to be met any time soon.

I regularly get caught up in heavy traffic, road blockages around the Dartford crossing. The usual reasons, accidents, break downs etc, everyone moans at but just accepts/tolerates. Them doing what they do on this route and many others just leaves a bad taste in the mouth !!!

Sooner or later someone will flip and take an extreme action against the cretins and probably get jail time because the police 'unions' shop stewards require their likely closed shop comrades to be as obstructive as they can get away with.

Then come down very heavily on the person taking the law into their own hands.

I think that is why they have now taken to going 'up in the air' so to speak 🤔 Highly visible and almost untouchable 😤

Just seen a clip that one of these demonstrating on a gantry over the M25 near Dartford posted up somewhere,,,, she had no tinfoil on her head !!! Very strange 🤔🤣 Plenty of 'sobbing' going on while trying to get her weak message across. They must all meet up somewhere and practice/rehearse all this ?!

Exactly this.

What should happen is that the authorities should release the names of those arrested and people of businesses that suffer loss (missed delivery or shipping deadlines, missed appointments, any loss) should be allowed to sue them for that loss. You get that done and they start to lose their homes or have debt proceedings and you'll see it stop. Most are middle class loonies with a lot to lose. So don't make them martyrs...make them bankrupt Seize their cars as part of that and let them use the public transport they seem so keen on forcing us all to adopt.

How will any of them be able to pay any amount of money if they were sued. £1 a month for rest of their life kind of fine?!? The one blubbing on the gantry was a 24 year old student I think who won't have anything to give

but it's now down to the courts to dish out meaningful sentences/punishment.

And this does seem to be a weak point.

I think it is very clear that 'the public' are sick and tired of this sort of protest.

It is true that at least some of the public support the cause of highlighting climate issues - but not in the damaging ways that are currently being used.

My own view (as covered in a few posts above) is that these protests are disruption by the usual anarchist element against the establishment (who have hijacked issues that they think may get them some public sympathy and will certainly get them financial support).  All related, Extinction Rebellion, Just Stop Oil, Insulate Britain, Anti Capitalist, BLM, Socialist Worker, Momentum, and the old Militant Tendency, and the 'animal rights' groups as well, LACS, Hunt Sabs, etc.

Past court appearances of the above have generally received very 'lenient' treatment from the judiciary and in some cases in jury trials the jury have failed to convict despite clear evidence and direction from the judge.  It is a problem that our system doesn't really have a clear means to address.

The other problem is that there are massive delays in the courts/judicial system, and so I assume the accused are often let out on bail to await trial.  Some sort of fast track system (Magistrates?) for these types of offence seems to be needed which has significant sentencing powers.

Yes you are correct and I agree with you on your thoughts. Since posting earlier it appears that they are at it again this morning,,,, so three days in a row!!! Details aren't forthcoming at the moment. This really needs stopping pronto. 'Stop oil' spokesperson has said, as on the news, "they will continue until the government and oil companies etc carry out their demands !!!". Sorry, but that ain't gonna happen !!!

It seems it has now caused an HGV traffic accident in which a police officer has been injured - news coming in.

They should be held accountable, and  heafty sentences should follow.

Maybe now a Police officer is involved, they will take the appropriate action. But I won't hold my breath.

It's not just because it's a police officer being injured, it could have been anybody getting injured,,,, it was only a matter of time before this occurred.

'They' also have said "we have no choice!" (Doing what they're doing).

Bow locks !!! 🤬🤬🤬

Absolutely, but now a Police officer has been injured, the chance of it happening increases significantly. But like I said, I won't hold my breath.

I don't think anyone is holding their breath 🤨

"About 10 people have climbed onto overhead gantries in numerous locations".

M25 disruption:

  • Surrey: Between J7 (M23) and J8 (Reigate), and between J9 (Leatherhead and J8 (Reigate), and between J13 (Staines) and J14 (Heathrow Airport)
  • Kent: Between J4 (Orpington and J5 (A21/Sevenoaks)
  • London/Essex: Between J29 (Romford) and J30 (Thurrock/Lakeside)
  • Hertfordshire: Between J23 (A1(M)) and J22 (St Albans

This takes proper planning, multi vehicle drop-offs. CCTV must offer evidence that the police can use to trace back to their head honchos and make further arrests ?

The way they talk, while sobbing, on their pleading video clips from the gantries, it appears to me that they have been brainwashed ?! Almost cult like goings on ???

Perhaps confiscating anything they have that was made from animals, oil products and electrically powered devices might get their brain cells thinking.

As for the milk protests, the hypocrites forget they benefited from the growth hormone milk contains in their youth but would deny it to other kids.

One of the organisers/ring leaders is one Roger Hallam.  If you Google him, he has (from a long history of protest, activism, and civil disobedience) been jailed several times, and is I think currently in jail.  He has disrupted many many peoples lives, cost the taxpayer fortunes, and clearly intends to continue doing so.

Hence something long term needs to be arranged to prevent him (and his ilk) further disrupting the vast majority of decent ordinary people trying to carry on with their lives.

I don't know how you do it, but typically with 'fanatics', and 'activists' normal legal things like short jail sentences, injunctions etc. are ignored.  Re-offending is regular and persistent, there are no assets to confiscate, no money to pay fines - and a continual succession of illegal activity leading to arrest leading to court appearances leading to short jail sentences becomes a never ending cycle - which is disruptive to the innocent public, hugely expensive and wasteful of police and court time (plus no doubt some intelligence services time in some cases).

It is much the same as persistent offenders, addicts or alcoholics .......... short sentences followed by release doesn't work.

Best thing would be a dictatorship and get rid of this bothersome democracy and free speech stuff.
