Hi gang.

I'm looking for a good brand of the above. Have tried Quaker oats cinnamon, strawberry but both a bit bland.

So what have we out there ?.

                                                            Thanks all.

Proper Porridge

100g Organic whole rolled oats

300ml milk (gold top is best but blue top will do)

Large pinch sea salt

Put all ingredients in pan, bring to 85c to 90c (do not boil), turn off cooker, slap lid on and leave sitting on warm ring for 20min.

If it is properly salted you really don't need jam\honey etc.

How can anyone advise you of what they think is good.  Surely everyone's tastes and likes are different.   I've found jumbo oats at the cash and carry that are really nice.  I take a quart Pyrex jug put about six desert spoons of oats then a heavy sprinkle of rice crispies,  two spoons of sweetner powder and about a pint and a half of skimmed.  Then into the meekro wavey for about 4+ minutes stirring a couple of times.  Then topped off with more milk.  Blooming gorgeous.  Never though of salt in it.  It's supposed to be healthy. At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, it's just fuel.

I use jumbo oats, a sprinkling of large juicy raisins to sweeten it and full cream milk.

Microwaved, in a large jug, on the simmer setting for 17 minutes.

The jug avoids it boiling over.

Then add a splash of double cream to avoid a jump in my blood sugar.
