Thanks...........not so much talent....i have always liked my food right from an early age...my mum was a good cook and i always watched her and sometimes allowed to help,,,then i spent so much time alone when i worked abroad...and as long as i could eat something tasty and have a good nights sleep ....i could do anything...when me and my mates walked down the high street they would be looking in the window of the gun shop or cloth shops ...i always liked to look in the butchers window.. i have a young friend Johnathen...must be in his very early 30's.....nowwww....he is a superb cook..lives on his own.......his mum was/is Brundall school cook...and taught him the basics...... and truly that is all you need ...THE BASICS...you have that and you will be able to cook decent food....such a shame they stopped doing "home economics" at school... kids come out of school and they cant cook water or boil an egg.........now that is truly awful isnt it.. That makes the belly pork about 33p a slice. Now that is a savvy way to shop, you could end up saving a fortune over the months. I know the local Asda supermarket reduces it's best before date same day bread and pastries by huge amounts.

All of the big name supermarkets are doing it across the range. Unfortunately they now reduce it where it is rather than take it to one central location. Can take a while to work your way around Sainsburys like I did yesterday evening. But you can get some cracking bargains though.

I was in our local Morrisons recently and they still appear to put all the reduced price items in one area, could barely get past the chiller for the gathering and as Ditchman says there ain't much picking left at times. I was shooting on the marshes at the back of Billy Bells last Saturday afternoon and on the way home I popped in M + S which is only within shooting distance from BB , they were reducing just about everything because they were shutting for two days over Christmas , I filled a basket up and didn't have enough money on me so I asked the lady on the self service if I could leave my basket with her while I popped back to my motor to get my card , I had only gone a couple of minutes and the kind lady had scanned them all and were all ready to pay which was about 30 quid and most of the stuff had about 70% off , a bit like after a wild goose , you have to be in the right place at the right time . As for your pork meal , 10 out of 10 for looks , but I am sorry to say that all those spices and sauce's would upset my innings , I know there wouldn't be any leftovers , but if there was I will pass on that and stick to my Haddock in bread crumbs that is about ten minutes from coming out of the oven All the best for a Happy and Peaceful New Year . Look in Aldi or Lidl - they have, periodically, in the middle aisle, cast iron pots / pans with lids. We got one for £21 quid and the equivalent Le Creuset is £175 in John Lewis !!! Same up here Ditchy, when i asked the council worker if i could take 2 he said no, they are council property, and if i took them it would be theft. He then went on to tell me that as soon as i drove into the tip, everything is classed as council property, except my vehicle. Bloody jobs worths. I remember my old pal used to take his van in (not allowed a van these days) with a few bits to dispose of and come out with the van full of ‘new stuff’. Whatever happened to recycling? Grandalf
Booking a visit to our local, Suffolk, recycling centre is like booking your holiday in North Korea. Truck registration, size of truck, size of trailer, address, time slot. Only allowed 15 mins on site. Only arrive at or five minutes before slot. Etc, etc, etc. When I did get there, Stowmarket, the bloke was most helpful. The site I wanted to go to wont allow trailers at all. I received 7 emails reminding me of the appointment once I had booked it. No wonder there is fly tipping.
