I go to Swansea casinos every now and again, but tbh that's for late night drinking where there's no agro, and to watch the same Chinese lads put £10k + on a number. Makes me chuckle

You could go to a bookies / casino in the outer Hebrides and there would be a Chinese person in there 😆

Indeed, our local casino on a Sunday used to be 25p chips 2 pm to 6 pm and it would be mobbed with the OAP lady gamblers - elbows and knees out as they would jockey round the tables. Serious crowd, no prisoners.

Watched one guy, put about 12k down lost the lot over about 30 mins, pulled out a wad of notes and chucked them at the guy doing the chips, he calls over a supervisor, puts the lot on about 4 numbers (looked to be about 5k) lost that, called the supervisor over again and asked for his tab to be used. That was the 10k. Thing is he wasn't even phased. Just another night by the looks of it. I felt sick just watching it.

If you genuinely have the willpower not to get addicted, then you can do the following:

- Signup to SkyBet, Paddy Power, Bet365, Ladbrokes, 888sport and Livescorebet. Take advantage of their signup bonuses and then never deposit another penny with them again.

- Play the free daily spin game on skybet and paddy power. If you win free spins, free scratchcard, etc. then only use these. Never spend your own money on spins/scratchcards

- Bet365 has a free daily game during the football season which gives you the chance to win free bets. Play this game, and only place free bets.

- All of these sites also tend to gift you a free bet periodically, especially when a big game is approaching (first match of the season, cup final, etc.)

If you have the willpower to stick to the above, there’s no way you can’t make a profit. They make money because most people get ‘bit’ by the gambling bug, myself included.

Yeh there are a good few ways to make “Free money”, if you have the willpower to stop before using your own money. I’ll stick to the one online source at the mo, don’t want it becoming an obsession 😂

But funny you mentioned it, there was a £1 free bet waiting for me this morning. Those tend to be different, though, as if you place a free bet on - say a 10/1 horse, you don’t get the stake returned, just the winnings.

I’ve just filled the account up to £50 with free spin wins, so that’ll go towards a treat for me and the missus 🙂

I don’t really gamble, not my bag. But I’ve had dabble previously and after reading this thought I’d go on an old account and see what’s what.

free daily spin, won five free spins. 5 free spins = 46p win albeit free money it will be a long tedious road to riches 🤣 but free money is free money 🤷‍♂️

one I play regularly despite not knowing a great deal about todays teams is super6, completely free to play, you predict 6 score lines and if you happen to get all six bang on the money £250,000 awaits. So if you know your football (or think you do) or just plain fancy a crack at it, may be worth a look.

That’s exactly it! I did keep a note of how much I won over the course of a month and it was just shy of £30… then I got bored 😂

Most i’ve won in a day was £17, the least was hee-haw.

But it’s worth 5 minutes of my time each day 👍

We recently did some work for a client in Putney who created/designed an algorithm for one of the online betting Apps. It’s basically designing the process in which the computer will react for any given eventuality (a problem solver). So any card you pick or hand you play the computer will have a step by step process too follow. We were told that any information is held like typical hours that you use these apps, average amount of money spent and also any gambling habits. All this information is then used in there favour in order to maximise money earned. So when you feel like your on a winning streak and put on a bigger bet or if your losing then suddenly get a win it’s not your luck I’m afraid just a carefully orchestrated money making machine. A couple of my colleagues who dabble with these gambling apps asked the clients wife in a jokingly sort of manner “Any tips on winning?” And she replied “If you want to win then don’t play these online apps!”. She was half joking and half serious but we all know it’s big business and we later found out after searching his name online that he sold his algorithm for around £100,000,000.

I enquired after a role I was emailed about last week - good pay and good bonus amount. It was with Bet365 - no thanks....

That reminds me of the time that a headhunter contacted me about a very well-paid rôle in a major company. I was really flattered and interested until he revealed that it was with a big tobacco company

I have never gambled & dont think i will start. But a few years back i was working in a secondary school & the number of kids doing online gambling was frightening, some were as young as 12 & addicted to it already. It was strange how most came from families least able to pay when it all went pear shaped as it inevitably did.

Maybe they should stick to free spins only…

Think this thread’s title needs changed 😂

Paddy Power, Ladbrokes and LiveScoreBet have been offering a £1 free bet on the Cheltenham races this week, it’s the last day today. What I’ve been doing is betting on the 3 favourites on one race to pretty much ensure that I win. With the daily free spins I’ve made £18 this week. It’s not much, but for zero deposit or risk then I can’t grumble.

It adds up 👍 I’m currently £274 up 🙂

I put a £1 a week on the National lottery. When they put it up to £2 I stopped.

Most I ever won in one go was £68.

These are morbid statistics, but:

The odds of winning the National Lottery are around 1 in 45 million.

The odds of winning Euromillions are around 1 in 140 million.

The odds of winning the Thunderball are around 1 in 8 million.

The odds of winning Hotpicks (5 numbers) are around 1 in 835,000.

The odds of being in a fatal car crash every single time you get in a car are around 1 in 7.4 million. Only Hotpicks (which carries the lowest jackpot of £350,000) has more chance of occurring than me dying every time I drive home from work. I tell this to people at work when they try to guilt me to join their lottery syndicate.

That's a set of pretty depressing numbers. I often wonder what I would do if I won a large lottery win but it starts with buying a ticket and the chances of me doing that are about 1 in a million. 🤣

I have a paddy power app and occasionally put a pound or so each way when a few of us are sat having a Saturday afternoon pint in the pub, on a rare weekday visit to the pub a few of the old boys were watching Cheltenham racing so on there recommendation put a few quid each way on a horse and picked up £56, happy days, winnings transferred straight into bank account.

If anyone was ever to ask me their advice … I’d say it’s not worth £274 to risk you being addicted to gambling.

So many people who get addicted to anything, drink, drugs, gambling, anything at all, all start like you are now, saying you are somehow different to the others, you’re not the same as those idiots, you only do the free ones etc.

That’s how they all start, that’s how they get you, they have absolute geniuses and full panels of people who design every little aspect of their games to make them addictive.

I’ve seen people through work who do the same with drugs, they just do a little bit here and there over years and years.

I’m glad you’ve had a few quid but I just don’t think it’s worth it.

Well, of course you’re entitled to your opinion 🙂

I get what you’re saying, but I also believe some people have more addictive natures than others.

I enjoy taking free money from bookies too much, to deposit any of my own money 😉

Although, having said that, i’ve amassed £20 of free spin money in the account, which will go towards my annual punt at the Grand National, which the missus joins me in.

I've done some match betting over the last few years, it used to be pretty good money but now the offers aren't as good as they used to be.

It's basically risk free where you take advantage of the sign up offers (bet £10 get a free £30 bet etc), there are websites that will help with finding the right bets (back something to win on one site and for it not to win on another), you may lose a 20p of your initial £10 bet but then get £30 back where you can clear and take home 75% - 80% of the free bet , it used to be pretty easy to clear £1k in the first month or so and then around £250/month after but I've just give it another go recently and the offers just aren't as good anymore so no longer worth the effort.
