I`ve got a few unsold bottle openers up for grabs, so will set a few questions over the next few days so the first with a correct answer to this gets the first one.

This word is still heard today, but what is the meaning of -:

GRATTEN

Mr. Google will not know

wonder where that comes from....saxon....scandinavian....

Stubble probably comes from Scandanavia where Norwegian and Swedish use the word stubbe - a completely useless piece of information I think I learned when studying vikings at school but then my head is full of useless stuff.

No bottle openers, but here's another word for the fun of it: 'Glebe'.

Funnily enough, I`ve got a copy of an old local map which has the words `Gibsons Glebe`, so I`m thinking that it is an old word for field or meadow.
