(Blo*dy typical 2 of my guns!) So before i head to a gunsmith does anybody have any advice of what I can try first?? Many Thanks. Aled salt flats and marshes mate.... its not somthing you can do at the end of the season. even the air is damp and salty. need maintenance pretty much as soon as they get home. renaissance wax over everything before you take them out and still back chokes off and wipe everything down when you get home

Aled
Heard it helps to remove rust so for my foreshore Hatsan, i'm prepared to give that go! Cheers. Aled
bluesj
Coke could take the blueing of as it is an acid. hot water has worked well, it will expand the barrels.

Sonic cleaners will remove the blueing very quickly. I know someone who tried cleaning the cylinder from his revolver and it stripped it back to bare metal. oldypigeonpopper
Hello, I would never use a Coke drink or anything similar, i started using this after a few stuck chokes ( Teague Choke Grease) and so far not had any problems, What have you tried so far Aled ??, a heat gun and diesel usually work,
Aled
Thanks oldypigeon: OK heating the barrel, leaving in diesel, leaving in a anti rust solution for a week, using a a spanner on the choke key to give more leverage, i have not stuck the barrel in the deepfreeze! Cheers Aled
JohnfromUK
4 hours ago, oldypigeonpopper said: I would never use a Coke drink or anything similar Nor would I. Coke is water, phosphoric acid and sugar. If you don't get the choke out - that combination of water, acid and sugar will 'lurk' in the threads as far as it has penetrated, which you most certainly do not want. Cheers Aled To me it sounds like rust, if it is you have one big problem and its possible you will need the barrels re-blacking, white vinegar will brake down rust, it needs standing in it for 24 hours, heat is another thing that will brake down rust but its going to need some serious heat. Try this first, if your choke key is castellated put the key into the choke and hit it with a hammer, hit it fairly hard but don't over do it, no lump hammers. Aled
Cheers guys, i would like my Lanber sorted properly as i saved up for the gun and knew it was the gun which i wanted to keep. I'm not so worried by the Hatsan, i am tempted to get a new barrel of £90 for it!

BobbyH
For those hating on multichoke guns, just my 2p’s worth….I have plenty of multi choke guns, and after years of having them and taking them out in all weathers, I have never had a stuck choke, just because I believe in good gun care routines. After every single time I take them out without fail, I take them all apart, clean them thoroughly and put them back together. Including the chokes. I remove the chokes, use a bore brush down the barrels to clean the barrel threads, use some spray oil like Napiers to remove any remnants of carbon, then I clean the internal of the chokes with a bore brush, then use a nylon or brass wire brush on the choke threads, then oil the threads and place them back in the gun, or back in the choke box. Agreed they’re no trouble if looked after properly. In fact, having shot with fixed and multi over the years, I think the advantages of multi chokes far outweigh any disadvantages. JohnfromUK
46 minutes ago, Fellside said: I think the advantages of multi chokes far outweigh any disadvantages. I only have one multi choke gun (fitted by Teague for a previous owner) and have never had any problems in many years ownership. Take out regularly to clean, but despite having about 8 tubes in total, I only ever used two tubes - which have been in it since I got it (apart from cleaning). Never felt the need to change. BobbyH
I do agree that multi choke guns are not as 'Needed' as some may think, I do also believe that they are for the very serious competitor, or someone who shoots alot of various clay disciplines, for example changing between Full and 3/4 for DTL/Trap and then using 1/4 and CYL for Skeet for example, but then, some people have specific guns for specific disciplines? But going to a game shoot or a sporting shoot, youll only ever really use 2 chokes, so multi choke is not needed Its a six and two three's isnt it.... Anyway, to the OP.... Did you manage to get the chokes out, and what have you tried exactly?
