marsh man
This day and age you can expect anything and everything when it come down to the weather , they said we were in global warning then the Beast From The East paid us a visit , I was born in November 47 when that winter was one of the worst in living memory and I have been cold ever since , the one in 62 / 63 will go down as the coldest any living person can remember , nothing have came anywhere near it for the length of time it was upon us , We can only wait and see . old'un
Hmmm so the charts are telling us its winter and its going to get cold, they cant get the weather right from day to day never mind a week or so ahead. Lovely here at the minute, sunny and warmish. Edited November 10 by old'un
Graham M
I think this November has been quite mild. When I was a lad we had 4 seasons and it started to get cold in October and went through to March. Wet April and a warm May followed by flaming June, scorching July and a sultry August. If that happens now it's called either "Global warming" or "Climate change", depending on how hot or cold it is.
Minky
We don't have winter in the tropical SE. It has been odd weather over the past week. It's been a dull grey, very still, very close and there hasn't been much road traffic at all. It's been more like during the covid period .... quiet. It has been very similar this past week in our part of Cumbria also. Grey and overcast with no sunshine at all, but very mild and still. Quite oppressive really. With the exception of a temp’ drop, It was very similar in Edinburgh yesterday also, with 1430 feeling much much later.

Something to do with high pressure trapping moisture. Or something along those lines. All I know it’s been **** for fishing, could do with a good bit of low pressure wind and rain liven them up a bit. Krico woodcock
Same over here, unnatural warm. Very hard on dogs working. Its bad enough with heat and overcast, but if skys clear and sun does come out its unbearable to hunt in, and midges still out. Bloody t shirt weather, Birds shot have to be plucked/ cleaned asap, Very unseasonal. Sooner it cools down the better. Have yet to get a fall off woodcock, but all that can change in a week🤞

JohnfromUK
Not backed up by current Met Office outlooks, which suggest fairly average with a few 'above and below' excursions; For 15th - 24th November "Temperatures probably near or below average with overnight patchy frost and ice." For 25th November - 9th December. "Some colder interludes, especially earlier in the period, are possible but overall temperatures more likely to be around or above average." Minky
When people talk about how the weather was different years ago or that some only remember what they want to. I remember that when I was a kid that in the Autumn going to school that very often it was very, very foggy and the grass was loaded with water beads on the mass of spiders webs. By about 10 is the sun would come out and burn the fog off. These mornings were called hop picking weather. Summers were summers and winters were winters. In the village there was a steep field that was known as the sledging field. It seemed as if the whole village turned out for snowball fights and sledging . Father even had a six person sledge MADE by the village carpenter and the steel runners made by the village blacksmith. Nowadays we don't get much if any snow at all. if we do get some snow it is gone by lunchtime and fathers sledge would never get used. Opposed to this we don't generally get the flaming June and the heat of August. It's as if the weather had equaled itself out.
marsh man
No abnormal signs of anything to say very cold weather is on it's way , in fact these last two weeks ago have been very mild , very still and bloody very depressing with it staying fairly dark for most of the day , known worst but knowing it to be a lot better than it is now , today was slightly better but nothing to write home about , next week we will be half way through the inland wildfowling season and up to now it have been a non event , roll on a proper Winter to kill off the bugs , coughs and sneezes . We have got a lot of geese down here at the moment , have we got as many as other years ? , it is a job to say as they are now more spread out than they used to be , but we have got good numbers .
