Hello, Yes, seems if you Plant a few flowers ,kick a ball, run a few miles, row a boat or balls up London you become a Hero, Although i was pleased on the Happy Valley actress , that was a cracking Drama

What gets my goat is that people get awarded for simply doing their job/work, such as acting!

What a load of miseries! 😄

The only one I regard as unworthy is that deceitful Khan; when you can sit in front of an inquiry panel and lie through your teeth you’ve got it cracked. Typical Labour liar.
Stephen Fry well worthy, just for being Stephen Fry. 🙂
Im certain the fabulous work Kevin Sinfield is doing will earn him his wings yet.

disgraceful.....................i was waiting with bated breath for "arise sir david beckam"............but not there so far.....the media are all asking why not david beckham................Bekham has been brownnosing around the royals for a while now and everyone knows what he is up to...i daresy being pushed by his awful wife......

my belief he will never recieve a knighthood for the same reason sir lestor piggot lost his knighthood ....there is one reason a person never recieves a knighthood or loses one and that is for Tax evasion/ tax doging/creative accounting........which a few years ago Beckham was done for .........

if the powers that be go back on that rule then they will have to return all the knighthoods they have recinded over the years...

When I was a manager for the WRVS (Womens Royale Volunteer Service) at a local hospital, a lady, who had volunteered for 43 years and travelled to work by bus, come rain or snow, actually refused an OBE on the grounds that she did the volunteering to help other people and did not want recognition for doing this. She was in her late 70's when I worked with her, and sadly, now deceased.

Sounds like someone who was actually deserving.

Indeed, and these are the people who deserve recognition, not actors, footballers, celebrities and anyone else who gets it for just doing for what they are paid to do.

Fry hasn't got it for just acting, he does a lot of charity work as well, using his popularity to promote.

The likes of Southgate and Kahn beggars belief.

Always a source of amusement, the way people keep voting for more of these things?

Not a clue, nobody asked me 🤣

Despite them doing the actual 'presentation', the Royals don't choose who gets most of these medals/honours.  They are given by the Sovereign on the 'recommendation' of the Prime Minister.

Those in the Sovereign's personal gift are the Order of the Thistle, limited to 16 'ordinary' members - the others being Royal family members - and the Royal Victorian Order for those who have served the Sovereign directly in a personal capacity.

It is a disgrace that Kahn has got a knighthood - rewarding failure.  Also Emily Thornberry, who was already officially "Lady Emily Nugee", but refused to use it as it doesn't fit with her 'lefty image' is given a Damehood.  I wonder of she will use that?

despite who awards/gives the honour...........there are a couple of strict conditions that must be adhered to...and if they break them to award Beckham a knighthood then they will have to dig up the queen mothers favourte jockey lestor piggort and give his sir back......

Receiving a knighthood,  means that you're a proper top bloke.

Just look at sir kier starmer 😇.

Thank you for the reminder, my breakfast is in danger of returning.???

Don't forget, it's a nice little earner too?

Let some pensioners who have little have less, give yer mates more? Beyond belief?

Yep .

Recognising the achievements of public service is a wonderful thing , but it gets devalued massively by handing them out to some truly awful and undeserving people.
