DO NOT FALL ILL or have an ACCIDENT over the CHRISTMAS PERIOD. She said that A&E was like a war zone and that they were minus 83.ĺ! This meaning that 83 patients were parked on trollies in the corridors. That's not a bed on a ward. She said that there had been an influx of covid cases and pneumonia. One of the daughters asked the wife if she could go and help because the granddaughter had picked up at playschool and brought home. We had never heard of Norrovirus and were unprepared for it's onslaught. The wife came back home and gave it to all of us. I was rolling around on the kitchen floor between 3&4am with my whole body wracked in pain and drenched in a cold sweat. The other two daughters were in the bathroom. One on the pan and the other throwing up into the bath. Totally horific. I can quite see noro virus getting on top of a frail elderly person. I had proper flu about 30 years ago . I was coughing up blood and hallucinating for two weeks . I thought I was going to die , and was so ill I just wanted it to happen quickly . Similar. I didn't nearly die, but I was very unwell and best part of 2 weeks in bed - fortunately living with parents then (circa 1977/78). I had had flu vaccine whilst at school and it was probably my first non-vaccinated flu exposure - and I got it badly. I have had the vaccine (most) years since and not had flu again (or if I have, very mildly). Your spot on. We've had the first signs of winter and they throw out warnings. Yes heavy rain and some unfortunate flooding due to a burst canal bank but who thought it was a good idea to give planning on somewhere that was always going to flood as its so low lying and now it has got colder. Councils. Why they did it (and continue to do it) is a much more complex matter, but part of the problem is central Gov't issuing quotas they MUST build. My local town (Tewkesbury) is notorious for flooding being on the confluence of two rivers, one being a big and very flood prone river (The Severn) - but they continue to grant permission for more and more houses and other developments on the 'flood plain'. This in turn causes the flood water to be pushed into older inhabited areas which were previously fairly free from flooding. Currently in the planning process are the plans for around 5000 further houses, many being on land that I have known to flood.
