The only places that parking half on the pavement is illegal (to my knowledge) is London and Edinburgh, or if it is specifically signed in that area. Many places exist that parking bays are marked out ON the pavement! Driving on the pavement is obviously illegal (not crossing it to a driveway/garage at a dropped kerb) but despite it being obvious that you’ve driven on the pavement to park half on half off  it you HAVE to be seen doing so to be ticketed. So I’d agree what an absolute waste of that officers time…… you obviously annoyed someone though 🤣

blimey there is a road not far from me where they all park half on the road and pavement and has been that way for years.

what did they say to you, ….. straight to jail … do not pass go …

claimed they could have given me a ticket for blocking the pavement ironic part is i park it half on to keep other drivers safe after coming down a long straight but in future will park my battered muddy old shed landie outside an extremely upmarket property because the whiner who took the pics didn’t know I was watching!

My Dad once questioned a senior copper about his policing methods during fair week, and instead of answering my Dads query he pointed to his car and told him that if he continued to park it with two wheels on the kerb he would give him a ticket. I didn’t know it was a thing, to be honest, nor what offence it is. I still don’t, but I do know it’s annoying.
My home town is an ancient market town and many people, believing they’re doing a favour to oncoming traffic, park two wheels on the kerb. They aren’t doing anyone a favour at all because they’ve STILL blocked the road on that side and traffic has to give way. Not only that, and more importantly,  they have also created an obstacle for invalid carriages and mothers with buggies or prams, who now have to get onto the road to get past. 🤷‍♂️

Its not rocket science.

Is the right answer   prams and others having to go onto the road. Putting there lives at risk.

The offence is driving on the footpath. Police no longer deal with parking issues, such as yellow lines etc. BUT, they will deal with vehicles causing an obstruction, be that the highway, or the footpath. Refusal to move is an arrestable offence.

Added to that, only 4 weeks ago an elderly lady, forced into the roadway by idiotic parking, was struck by a motor vehicle. Thankfully with only minor injury. I wonder if she will ever venture out again after this incident  ?  This occurred  at the end of the road where I live. A contributing factor was the speed of the motor vehicle. The road is 20mph, with an average speed of 40mph. The road was being used as a 'rat run' to avoid nearby roadworks.  It is a problem that will only increase with more and more vehicles coming onto our roads.

not in this case cars can ONLY pass because I do park half on the pavement grass verge is always trimmed so their au pair or nanny could easily get a pram past until police solve all the rapes and robberies not one min or penny should be spent on how a car parks just to keep a bunch of over privileged antis happy

The fact others can pass is irrelevant, as is those you consider to be over privileged antis; you’re still parked on the pavement and as Westley has pointed out, driving on the pavement is an offence. 🤷‍♂️

So is riding a bike on the pavement, but it seems to be the norm around here these days.
Some of them even think pedestrians are going to step out of their way!

That's because it is too dangerous to ride on the road. Even more so, if you are 2 up and the 'pillion'  is carrying the gun  !

It is indeed, but as the saying goes….two wrongs don’t make a right.
