clangerman Posted Wednesday at 17:08 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 17:08 just had a phone call from the police so full credit to them for spending tax payers money and resources on tracking me down for the evil crime of parking half on a pavement when shooting yesterday if only burglars and rapists would park the same! lol
rbrowning2 Posted Wednesday at 17:12 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 17:12 blimey there is a road not far from me where they all park half on the road and pavement and has been that way for years. what did they say to you, ….. straight to jail … do not pass go …
Spr1985 Posted Wednesday at 17:16 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 17:16 The only places that parking half on the pavement is illegal (to my knowledge) is London and Edinburgh, or if it is specifically signed in that area. Many places exist that parking bays are marked out ON the pavement! Driving on the pavement is obviously illegal (not crossing it to a driveway/garage at a dropped kerb) but despite it being obvious that you’ve driven on the pavement to park half on half off it you HAVE to be seen doing so to be ticketed. So I’d agree what an absolute waste of that officers time…… you obviously annoyed someone though 🤣

ShootingEgg Posted Wednesday at 17:45 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 17:45 Did you politely decline the ticket.
bruno22rf Posted Wednesday at 17:53 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 17:53 AFAIK parking is a civil offence and nothing to do with the police. Test the theory by ringing them and trying to report a car parked on double yellow lines, they will soon tell you that it is NOT a police matter. I'm 99.9999999 % sure of it. Scully Posted Wednesday at 17:53 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 17:53 My Dad once questioned a senior copper about his policing methods during fair week, and instead of answering my Dads query he pointed to his car and told him that if he continued to park it with two wheels on the kerb he would give him a ticket. I didn’t know it was a thing, to be honest, nor what offence it is. I still don’t, but I do know it’s annoying. My home town is an ancient market town and many people, believing they’re doing a favour to oncoming traffic, park two wheels on the kerb. They aren’t doing anyone a favour at all because they’ve STILL blocked the road on that side and traffic has to give way. Not only that, and more importantly, they have also created an obstacle for invalid carriages and mothers with buggies or prams, who now have to get onto the road to get past. 🤷♂️ Its not rocket science. Is the right answer prams and others having to go onto the road. Putting there lives at risk.
30-6 Posted Wednesday at 19:11 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 19:11 I think in Wales they've talked about making it illegal, for benefit of the blind and pushchairs, which seems fair to me. I have seen cars with cameras on top with something like road traffic management logo on them, driving around housing sites filming bad parking. Westley Posted Wednesday at 19:21 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 19:21 (edited) The offence is driving on the footpath. Police no longer deal with parking issues, such as yellow lines etc. BUT, they will deal with vehicles causing an obstruction, be that the highway, or the footpath. Refusal to move is an arrestable offence. Added to that, only 4 weeks ago an elderly lady, forced into the roadway by idiotic parking, was struck by a motor vehicle. Thankfully with only minor injury. I wonder if she will ever venture out again after this incident ? This occurred at the end of the road where I live. A contributing factor was the speed of the motor vehicle. The road is 20mph, with an average speed of 40mph. The road was being used as a 'rat run' to avoid nearby roadworks. It is a problem that will only increase with more and more vehicles coming onto our roads. Edited Wednesday at 19:28 by Westley
bigmcg Posted Wednesday at 19:43 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 19:43 Thanks to the great and wise SNP government in Scotland pavement parking is illegal unless specifically exempted. It came into force last year.
