  1. My cat brought a fully grown rabbit in. I knew he had something large as he made a right racket getting through the cat flap. He proudly presented the buck rabbit to me and I promptly thew it back out, locking the cat flap before the wife saw. The cat sat outside and over the course of 3 hrs ate the whole thing bar its tail. He looked like a snake that had eaten a pig. No apparent I'll effects but he is wormed often. He also eats squirrels but has a right tear up with them when he gets hold of one.
  2. Worn alt bergs 12 hrs a day for many many days (decades in reality). They wear well and are comfy. Yes there are lighter boots and tougher boots however altbers do the job very well at a reasonable price. Aku make some decent fabric boots if you don't want leather that are just as waterproof.
  3. I saw a women in the paper the other day saying she has to eat left overs so her child doesn't go hungry. She was at least 20 stone, what kind of leftovers were they?
  4. I had the 1377 as a kid, it was pretty good for the price. These days you can get all sorts of bits for it to trick it up. Accuracy and power were good but the trigger poor in comparison to my webley or mates 45. Might treat myself to a tempest or a 45 this year for a bit of plinking.
  5. I did similiar with creosote and it was good for 4 years before I had any.
  6. Corrected myself- 30000 gallons and 4 hours to extinguish one electrical car - lithium is a class b fire and has to be cooled to sub ignition temperature and can't be starved out like a normal car fire.
  7. It was a strange moment meeting jdog in a bar at night, normally (as my wife points out sniggering) it's in far away gateways and laybys off the beaten track. It was however reminiscent of how we first met some years ago. Where those years have quite gone I don't know as my eldest is now 6 and has a younger sister to misbehave with. Neither existed the first time he shouted "its a doddler" and watched me miss with a smirk on his face. All the best with the move and hopefully you'll get unpacked before Christmas. Make sure the spare room is sorted too as I fancy a 100+ day on some easy pigeons to see if the legend of the cotswolds is true.
  8. There's a house spider in my loft that could pick up a grown man, give me nightmares going up there. Its actually run at me with its legs up before truing to have a go. Not afraid to admit I went the other way. The ones in the house I feed insecticide.
  9. A friend at work calls it (out of her earshot clearly) "the long rage".
  10. I take the fat off, far better taste. If you cook it right it don't have enough time in the pan to go dry
  11. Go via your home insurance, give them the registration number and if known company name of the van/lorry let them sort it, your not at fault so your premiums shouldn't increase. I've had 2 no fault accidents (car pulling out or rear ending me) and neither have increased my premiums and both have been costly, the first was a double write off. Emailing companies and informal arrangements aren't worth the trouble.
  12. They were saying the the radio that 1922 wanted a minimum of 100 backing a candidate for them to be put to the public. Boris has got someone to do a ring round. I bet he gets 100 and there's a good chance he'll be back. A real "here's johnny" moment.
  13. Madness if u ask me. What's the point, get caught and face total ruin? Hardly worth it.
  14. A simple mac and cheese. Lovely stuff. I sometimes honey glaze a ham. When I'm fed up with it I chop into cubes and add to a mac and cheese. I prepare 2 or 3 and freeze the ones I won't be eating straight away. Fantastic simple food, a real comfort dish so to speak. A slow cooked chilli or spag bog is hard to beat too. Or shepards pie with beans.
  15. I've found the bbc good food recipe for Yorkshire puddings is about the best. You can add herbs and fanny about with it if you wish. The key I've found is in 3 parts 1. Use an electric hand blender. By christ it mixes it up and tbr air in the mixture makes for a lighter and more fluffly pud. 2. Make sure the oven and oil is as hot as it can be. Another 20 minutes warming up is worth it everytime 3. Fresh eggs. Makes a big difference I've found. I've used plain and self raising flour, messed with the mixture but the basic mix on their website (I never remember it, it just won't stick in there) is there abouts right. Not rocket science. If I had to pick 1 of my 3 things it would be temperature of the oil, its all important. Anything less than smoking hot will disappoint.
  16. Did jacko shoot any under 50 yards? He likes the long shots.
  17. Just eat them yourself, mince and mix 50/50 with pork. Sausages, burgers, meat balls, the world's your oyster. Never understood people not eating them. 100 birds doesn't actually go that far either.
  18. Hes alive and well, that I can attest to. Why he grew tired of the same old **** I don't know.

    Dentists

I pay 20 quid a month for going private, any work is covered, a checkup/polish is about 4 quid dearer than nhs. The service is a million times better than any NHS dentist I've ever been to. I never wait in the waiting room, I get an appointment within 24hrs, mostly the same day. I've been private in 2 places for the last 20 years, will never go nhs again. A lot cheaper than a £1500 bung and a lot better too.
  21. By christ this thread has gone on long enough. Stop feeding the trolls.
  22. A clay shoot I used to go too (before I had kids and plenty of time) sometimes had stands on high bank over a pond. Occasionally you shot a low crosser at 45 to 50 yards. There was definitely a shot string as you could see it in the water, a line getting progressively wider towards the clay 3 to 4 metres long at times. The vast majority around the clay.
  23. Earlier in the week jdog asked if I was free today, oddly I was and met him at his house just before lunch. He took the windiest route he could find to a remote field, I may have shot there or nearby before but for all the tea in China I couldn't tell you where we were. Jacko was waiting in his madmax like 4x4 and we surveyed the field. It was in the region of 200 acres and beans ready to be harvested. Birds were in it, landing in it, flying away, sitting about on stubble next to it. You get the picture. There were lots of birds and they wanted to be there. We set up on the far side 50 meteres apart and had 2 rotarys out in the crop. The birds now didn't really want to be there. Choosing to move elsewhere. A few did come past so we gave it a couple of hours and shot well with what came in, jacko didn't like to wait for them to come in so most his were in the region of 60 yards. Changing the pattern and removing the rotarys made no difference. Growing tired of this and with the ever changing wind that was somewhere between 20 and 35 mph, we went back across the field and stood behind the hedge under the now formed flightline that wasn't there earlier. Whatga difference, they came in from 360 degrees and were far from slow. I hit a couple of screamers around the 50m mark that crashed some 80m or so further on to give you an idea of their pace. Jacko and jdog were blazing away also. 2 hours of the finest sport resulted in us picking 35. Almost the same amount were unable to be picked with a large number in a water treatment place we just couldn't access. Had they nkt changed their minds (I think the wind was the issue to be fair) that would have been a hundred bag day easily. In any case it was better than anyway at the office.
  24. I can't stand him shouting down people. It's a poor technique and one that carries no favour with me. He has been put in his place a few times and that's equally amusing. I have little time for veganism also. If that's what they want then fine but don't tell me what I have to do, as I don't have to do anything.
  25. Gun oil, wd40, 3 in 1. Mines being going years and years on any/all of the above. Maybe once a year if it's lucky.
