Vince Green
It was said to me after my mate Keith was killed by a hit and run driver (who incidentally was never found) that murder by car was the 'cheapest' form of murder. Had he been caught the driver would only have been given a derisory sentence. As it turned out I don't think the police even spent much time looking for him. In recent years the penalties have been increased, but the lad who killed his passenger in a horrible crash about a mile from me got 18 months. Another who killed a mate of my son's (they were in the same cubs and scout when they were younger) doing 70+ in a 30 limit didn't even go to jail because of the "mental anguish" he was suffering. So don't expect too much
Reece
you could make driving tests harder, but will it help same as the gun laws make them hard but it dont help.he should be put in jail for life. We shouldn't make driving tests harder, but we should have them available for younger teenagers. Teach them at an earlier age and most will end up more responsible. There are some schemes like that, but they should be made more widely available.
KFC
It defies logic, for me, that if I went with my firearms and someone died because I was negligent then I would be banged up on a murder charge. If someone died because I was driving dangerously then I'd be done for a driving offence and even a maximum five years would only mean a two year stretch. Given 34,000 deaths and 3m injuries over the past ten years by vehicle then why shouldn't vehicle owners be subject to the same restrictions as SGC/FAC holders. Through the town where I live drivers routinely drive at 40-50 mph
pimpkiller
ive got a few mates who were driving instructors and often talk about this sort of thing, unfortunately its not the skill of driving thats the problem its the drivers lack of responsibility thats the problem and you cant change someones nature from a few lessons. The vast majority of the time you can point out who is going to cause an accident but what can you do about it? The only thing i can think of is a minimum number of lessons and have them in all conditions including heavy traffic and if you fail your test another minimum set amount and then retesting after a year. Perhaps the police should come down much harder on people who have just passed their test for a set amount of time so if they are caught doing something stupid licence gone and another minimum amount of lessons again. Perhaps a learner should have all the "fun" sucked out of driving and be taught that it is simply a mode of getting from A to B not a race track. Another thing is that a new driver has never probably had or can imagine what a crash feels like so frankly some idiots should be put in a car and rammed into a wall they may think twice in future. It all boils down to the fact if you give a responsible person a knife you will just eat your dinner with it, give it to an idiot and they may end up stabbing someone with it, now you cant predict that with driving lessons if they pass they pass but we should punish HARD when they do something stupid. THE AD
About time we change the sentencing to the same standard as our friend America. He would not get out of jail let alone get bail. Davyo do a poll to see if members would like the laws change to murder if you cause death on the road. Then send it to Mr Cameron and his lap dog. four-wheel-drive
Perhaps if you had stood your ground and ran him off the road he would not have been on the road to kill these other people I always remember some years ago a friend was run off the road and recked his car while the other guy just drove off after that I alway said if anyone did that to me I would make shore that both cars got taken off the road but then perhaps I an just bloody minded.
