Rexcernui
Peter Wilson has been stopped at the airport in South America, had guns impounded and had to prove who he is and why after being accused of being an illegal whale hunter. Its on the bbc news site now. I would post the link but phone won't let me.
scimitar
Just read it, unbelievable nearly all the competitors turning up for world championships in lima have been stopped and had guns removed.

phaedra1106
Whale hunting with a 12 gauge?, yes that makes perfect sense, just the right tool for the job Would you have to use steel shot for that?
Dangerous Brian
I suppose maintained lead would be better for whales. I reckon bum, belly beak bang will have the timing off a bit. Whale hunting with a 12 gauge?, yes that makes perfect sense, just the right tool for the job Would you have to use steel shot for that? You will have to watch out as non toxic laws vary though. Scotland is different to England and whales (sorry- i'll get me coat)....

Canis
Id use a 17 hmr. overkill- a springer will be up to the job bot only if its .22 and not more that 25 miles away otherwise then it would be saved by the curvature of the earth
Will Poon
No don't be silly you can't use a springer for a whale it's definately got to be a 12g shotgun preferably fibre wad 28g 8s, better killing patterns with the 8s

Catamong
Seriously though, it does beg the question, why on Earth do the governing bodies of World Shooting arrange a World Championship in a tinpot, third World Country like Peru..?? Everyone there is on the take, I'm pretty sure that those impounded guns will already be on the South american equivalent of e-bay..?? Cat.
