chrisjpainter
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/sports-personality/25383616 Shooter Amber Hill has been named the BBC's Young Sports Personality of the Year. Great to see a young gun getting into the papers for all the right reasons! Nice to see shooting able to get some really positive publicity for a change. It's a dangerous thing to say, but this winner of sports personality of the year might actually have some personality!

figgy
Nice to see that shooting is being put back up there after Wilson won gold. Been frowned upon for far to long. Figgy

chrisjpainter
How come Andy murray is in the line up then if its PERSONALITY that counts ? ? -Mongrel-
It is brilliant news and full congratulations to Amber Hill. I find it amazing though that there was not even a mention of our 22 time World championship winning MBE in the 'senior' event.

Uncle Albert
Well done Amber. A great ambassador for our sport. It's still disgusting that the big man has not got the recognition that he deserves though. How many other sportsmen or women could boast a record like his? In a word, NONE. hoggysreels
Good cause ... terrible production .. cringe worth .... please halfpenny got award and lm an english/irish rugby fan ... Murray is a nice chap and deserved the win .. think people are unaccustomed to "normal" ... not everyone is like those plebs off "the only way is essex" ... class out shines being a talentless big gob ..lmho
Penelope
Is it perhaps because he shoots live quarry too? Does Amber? It is brilliant news and full congratulations to Amber Hill. I find it amazing though that there was not even a mention of our 22 time World championship winning MBE in the 'senior' event.
Gordon R
Had a proper read up on this - this morning. A first class representative of the sport. There was someone on the radio the other day saying Phil Taylor should be recognised more. He said "name me another sportsman who has won more World Titles". No problem - George Digweed. Dibs
Amber is an amazing talent. At 16 and under the wing now of Perazzi she will be a great face for the sport. Cheryl Hall is another talent who has won countless titles and little outside recognition. 24 world titles and loads of other European titles. victorismyhero
Great news and as said , good for the sport. just one little niggle ....... why oh why does she carry her gun in that slap-dash yankee "over the shoulder" style I have twice nearly been "plank slapped" (if you are old enough to know that reference) by some berk doing just that. now of course i realise that THIS is my own "subjective" view of it BUT there are other more important considerations WHY do (or rather should) we carry guns broken and over our arm? The reason is that we do this to show that not only is our gun safe because its broken but ALSO so that others can see its very safe because they can see the chambers are empty. if the gun is over your shoulder and the chambers 5 foot plus in the air thats not visible... perhaps some one should ask her politely to carry the gun properly. Even the CPSA does NOT recommend that way of carrying a gun....and says so in this......https://www.cpsa.co.uk/userfiles/file/CTSH.pdf. Sorry for the rant but to me its just another "americanism" that has crawled into our "proper" way (for a reason) of doing things
shaun4860
Maybe it's to do with the weight of it? Holding for a long period over her arm must get tiring for someone of her age/stature
biketestace
And id say she can do what she blinking likes ! The gun is obviously safe ........
