Lol!! I'm not sure I'd be buying that one, true or not!

It is true. They look cute but are minging things. They sit in trees all day long eating eucalyptus leaves and when they pee they do so on the koala below them. And chlamydia is rife. I knew a zookeeper in Sydney. They loved Koalas as it drew the visitors in and they could charge a fortune for people to have their photo taken with one but they hated dealing with them.

An back to the original post. I can't think of anything you would buy in Australia. It's a very expensive country. Perhaps Vegemite but Marmite is just as good. Oh Tim Tam biscuits. Bite the corners off and drink your tea through one, like a straw, before it dissolves. Yep Tim Tams that's all.

We were out in Oz (Queensland, Brisbane area) a couple of months ago, and go every 2-3 years (my baby sis lives out there)

In 2012 / 2013, the exchange rate did make it very expensive out there, when it was roughly AU$1.20 to £1. However, it is now close to AU$2 to £1, which translates to a considerable drop in prices for us brits.

As a comparison, something that was AU$100 2 years ago was £83. Price now is more like £50.

Good things to get ? GenuineDrizabone hats, coats (I've had my coat 12 years now, and have 3 of the hats), Tim Tams are nice, gemstones can be good value (my sis makes custom jewellery).

Apart from that, hope your better half has a high tolerance to heat and humidity. It really can be unbearable out there in December / January, depending on exactly where she's going.

Oh, one final thing : If you can, get her to bring back some Cairns Highland Coffee. Macadamia nut flavour. Chuffing lovely !
