Lloyd90
Law abiding gun owner forced to stand by and do nothing whilst 4 aparently armed men force their way into his home, beat him and threaten them to open a safe , hand over their hard earned money and belongings and drive off in their car ... Great advert for our self protection laws! Sometimes I do think the USA has it right with home they treat home invaders. Obviously I would not condone anyone using their legally held shotgun over here for self defence! Because we are law abiding honest folk! Shame though when it lets the criminals walk over you! I understand what you`re saying but in this case unless he`d been wearing a gun or had one next to him it wouldn`t have helped.

If firearms were allowed for protection in this country there would be no requirement to be locked at all times. I think this is what he alludes to. fortune
I know of two similar incidents not many miles away from this location in the past couple of years. one out near Tenterden and another somewhere out near Charing. I don't know if anyone was ever caught but the one out near Tenterden the bloke said that he thought the plod new who was responsible but wouldn't go further. He was home invaded at about 4.20 am on a summers morning by 3 blokes that knocked his mrs about and hit him with a jemmy bar splitting his head open and knocking him unconscious. They didn't bother with any disguises at all. they got away with maybe a couple of thousand at most.

I think this is what he alludes to. It's a worrying thought! I feel quite safe that anyone else in my house can't get access to my firearms. I don't think we need to discuss the practical issues around how it would work as it will never happen for us I don't think.

If you have got 3 >> 4 blokes inside of your house and they are beating yourself and your wife and children with hammers and iron bar you will very soon find the keys and let them have what they want. They won't take, I won't give you the keys or I haven't got them here as an answer. They will keep beating you until you do hand them over or someone gets killed or seriously injured. The blokes that home invaded the house out near Tenterden are very determined and dangerous people.
Fuji Shooter
A terrible ordeal to have to go through, I hope they both get over it the best they can. Very sad that the scum took medals and trophies that they will just probably just throw away.
B25Modelman
Many years ago my neighbour was broken into a week before Xmas, and all the present were taken. There was nobody home at the time but they could not live there after knowing that someone had been through their home...they sold up and moved away. lurchers
With any look he will of had good cctv and might be able to catch them sussing the place out before they done him over.its like something you hear on crimewatch and this country is getting worse for protecting the criminals instead of the the ones been done over. Penelope
What a horrific experience! I can understand them taking money, guns and car but trophies and medals! What value will them have?
Dannyboy220
I hope George and his wife manage to put this dreadful thing behind them. No coverage in the media ? I was surprised as well looking online it's been covered lightly but taken from local gazette it looks like. http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2016-02-22/hammer-wielding-robbers-attack-couple-in-home/ George said he can't talk about it to much as its ongoing, if he was forced to open a safe (cabinet I presume?)surely he can't face any charges? Lord Geordie
What a horrific experience! I can understand them taking money, guns and car but trophies and medals! What value will them have? You hear them on TV, "insert name here" wins Olympic gold medal! They think its a pure gold medal? Trophies can be made of silver, while not as precious as gold, I is still a precious metal. Edited February 25, 2016 by Lord Geordie
