TONY R
AS THE TITLE SAYS- WHAT IS THE MOST ROUNDS FIRED BY A SHOTGUN YOU OWN!? Or have owned Aproximate numbers is fine. . + FOR ADDED INTEREST- WHAT TYPE OF SHOOTING DO YOU DO WITH THAT GUN!? These days we live in an affluent society where the latest and greatest shotgun is the desire of so many shooters. Some people have had close to every make and model availlable , and a year is a long time for them to own a shotgun. But interested in the big number of rounds here regardless of time scale Whats had the shots through it, whats genuinely stood the test not just been owned the longest. I expect a lot of clay guns will be in the top numbers but you never know pigeon shooters / vermin hunters might be suprising. And Brands and models whats that to be i wonder. shalfordninja33
I have a Hatsan Escort that's had 1,000's and 1,000's put through it over the last 10 years. Its my main rabbit and vermin shooting gun, when we're shooting Rabbits in the spring and after harvest we go out once or twice a week and its not unknown for us to get through 500 shells a week between 2 guns. Fortunately the farm management company pay for the ammo, they manage around 8,000 acres locally of which we handle the vermin control on around 6,000. Its a lot of ground to cover when it has to fit in around whatever else they're doing on the farm during the day. I've never shot a clay with it and its never had much less than 32gm 5's and above. To say it looks worn is an understatement! But I look after it and prefer the look now to how it was new. The moving parts have plenty of slop in them but it still locks up tight and only plays up occasionally. I appreciate these figures will be much less than a clay shot would get through in a year. Compared to my 686 which I've owed for the last 20 years I probably don't put any more than 600 a year through it on a mixture of game and clays. Andy_Roo
I have an MK38 owned from new since Feb 2015. Mainly clays with this one, would estimate 6000 shells through it (1000 English Sporter's, 5000 Hull SuperFast). Recently bought a 1952 Belgian SXS which has had around 500 shells through (Hull Superfast) all clay.
Euget123
My first shotgun, a Lamber game over and under had about 9000 over two years! Used it for everything game and clays. I think it was made mid 80s. Only used for rough shooting now but still going strong! ET

Old farrier
Hi Got a few guns that have all fired more than 1000 in a day Fire about 12000 a year now so cut back a bit through a assortment of guns :-) All the best Of
adzyvilla
well i don't do enough to bother you big time shots on here but my dad has a w&s 700 that was bought new in 1965, was his only gun until very recently and has been well used to the tune of approx 2000 carts a year giving well over 100000 shots fired and it has (to my knowledge) never missed a beat. I can also testify to the club guns at bisley shooting ground having worked there for a few years in the past. They take some serious abuse over the average year and must be the most used guns anywhere in the UK.
Duckandswing
I suppose my browning 525 had done maybe 6000 carts. I have others but non up to that number. At the club where I shoot the owner reckons they have a browning 425 club gun that has shot a million carts. Its had works admittedly but not much. Not sure about a million though. PhilR
My Perazzi MX8 which I used for trap shooting for 23 years, I reckon must've had near 250k through it, shooting every weekend plus mid week training. I took it back to the Perazzi factory for a rebuild about ten years ago.

Roy King
my first brand new gun was a 5 shot Franchi hunter [engraved model] i used to shoot pigeon and clays with it at least 4 times a week back in the 70's, i used about 1000 rounds every two months and i had it for years. until it had to be converted to 3 shot. it never worked well after that. so an educated guess would be at least 8000 . they were good times.
