ditchman
so one of the locking pins goes into the pump and the other goes thro' the timing gear...to keep it steady whilst i feed the timing belt around the other cogs... ditchman
locked all the gears off ..............and bled it up to the injectors.......then pre-heat 15secs and try and start............started to fire straight away.....then stopped released air out of the injector pipes and tried again...it coughed after 3 turns of the crank....and ran rough.....NO WHITE SMOKE.....the increased the revs and it started to run ohhh so smooth....dropped the revs and it went on to a lovely smoothe heart beat tickover...then started to run the throttle up and down ..............NO SMOKE AT ALL.....engine started to warm ...running very very smooth...then stopped it....had a fag....then touched the starter....ONE SWING OF THE ENGINE IT GOES STRAIGHT ONTO A NICE TICKOVER...NO SMOKE.... Gordon R
I really like the idea of an engine mounting frame to check it's running right - out of the car.

jam1e
Ditchman. I have followed your thread on and off since the beginning. A very interesting thread, by a clearly very talented modest man. Thanks for taking the time to share your expertise, and interest in that particular engine. I learnt a lot from your thread, as it can obviously be applied to other engines. Well done the Ditchman!
