ips
Following on from my other posts I have just looked and handled a few guns on my shortlist for a cheap all round gun... W&R - didn't like anything about it. Lincoln vogue - black action 30" game with gold bird inlay. Very nice indeed cant fault the build quality for any money and its £1100 😞 obviously haven't shot it but it feels well balanced and came up very nicely. A little lower in the comb than I was looking for but I could have adj fitted. Cogswell and Harrison Windsor - tastefull but rather plain silver action with bird scene engraving. Again for the money cant fault build quality. This had a very nice comb which was quite narrow but as a result gave the impression of a good ammount of cast which I like. Again rather low in the comb but well balanced and handled well a lot of gun for £900 Benelli 828 or summat - what the heck is this. An OU that looks and feels like an auto. Try it says dealer..urgh says I BUT wow did it feel nice 28" version silver action it looked and handled like nothing I have ever felt before. The looks grow on you. Yes its quirky but not in a for the sake of being different kind of way. This is some gun but would you turn up at a driven day with it. £2200 but its my new guilty pleasure, I love it. Which to buy, not sure yet

Scully
Nephew has the black actioned 828; he loves it and uses it for driven and in the hide. I've only handled but not shot one. I agree they come up and handle very very nicely. I much prefer the black finish.
figgy
Easy non of them go and buy the 525 for sale in private sales section little used new improved version and around £1100 better gunnthan W&S and will hold its value much better than a Lincoln. I would really like to shoot one but in the shop it felt soooo nice. I was a little concerned as to how it would look on a driven day it being less than traditional. ips
Easy Lincoln vogue A very pretty gun but with a modern twist being black action. Nice weight in the barrel felt like it would be steadier than the C&H.
ips
Buy 'em all! Ha, honesty if I was new to shooting I would save my pounds on buying big brands like Beretta as to me you can get very good new guns from lesser makes at naff all money. Ideally I would have the vogue and the benelli
johnphilip
I have the 828 u love it. Nice and light.its one of the first guns you can alter your self to fit.if you were to go for one then maybe the 30 inch barrel .the only thing i would say would be with it been a lightgun at around 6 1/2 pounds. Think a lot of heavey loads may hurt after a while.but then it may depend if your shooting a lot of cartridges.
matone
Buy an older Miroku/Beretta /Nikko/Winchester.All better quality guns that can be picked up for little money.
psycho
I got an 828u and it's an amazing gun as I was able to alter it to fit me... using the shim and cast kit included with it .. It increased my shot Count from average 16 per 25 to 21 in the first outing It's rare I get less than 23 now and that's having used it only half a dozen times for clay. It's light enough for all day carry in the field with plenty of hits from the hide and as said it shoots the clays equally as well... I use 1oz number 6 and 1oz 7.5 for clays Once I fired the gun a day later I sold my brand new UK grade 3 b725 as I knew the browning could not compare to the 828u.mine is silver with 28 barrals The 828u is the only gun you will ever need apart from an and old £30 sxs for use in the rain.... ips
Well I was tempted with the benelli in fact I may still get one as I think there fabulous however I went back to rfd and had another play and came out with the Lincoln having chopped in my auto which I never really liked anyway. It fits better than the 687 which will probably go soon. I have been all over the Lincoln and I honestly cannot find and faults or dubious quality issues it seems to be as good a build quality as any other gun regardless of price tag. A lot of gun for £1k and very nice looking. I thought it was a tad lower than I would like but was prepared to get it made adjustable but having tried it again I think it may be spot on but of course I need to shoot it to be sure. Old Boggy
Regardless of make, it is the gun that you like, that fits and that you shoot well with that counts. Whilst I can understand what Bruno is saying about the B525 being a better gun and probably a good investment, one has to ask why it is for sale after being owned for only a few months. I suspect that the owner just cannot get on too well with it. I have a Lincoln Prestige in 20 gauge and love it and shoot as well as I'm likely to with it. I am currently awaiting delivery of similar in 16 gauge (my preferred gauge) from a PW member as Lincolns seem to suit me. I have owned Lincolns in the past and have never had any problems with them. I like the fact that they are one of a few makers that produce differing gauges on truly scaled down actions. I have very rarely bought a gun as an investment, but something to use and enjoy owning. This of course, is only my take on things and others may view gun ownership differently. OB

Unfortunately I now have two quite high end guns sitting unused in the cabinet. DT10eell trap - because I no longer shoot trap. And 687eell diamond - because it no longer fits me, in fact I don't think it ever really suited me. Having spent huge amounts on twenty or so guns in thirty odd years I am no longer driven by "badge" or assumed quality because of price tag. The Lincoln is Imo a very nice looking gun, I can find no fault with build quality and its for naff all money. What's not to like 👍 . This is some gun but would you turn up at a driven day with it. £2200 but its my new guilty pleasure, I love it.
