Retsdon
It seems incredible that two months away from the World Cup that the Russians would poison an old spy and his daughter in an English country towm using instantly traceable 'novochick' gas when, if they had a mind to kill thrm, they could just ax easily poisoned them with warfarin or cyanide. Not only that, but after pointlessly smuggling in this nerve gas they botch the operation to the extent that neither victim dies, an innocent policeman is hospitalized, and a major diplomatic incident ensues. When calls for a boycott of the World Cupn are raised in the Commons, my suspicions will have been confirmed.
kennett
Does seem a bit odd. Surely 2 bullets in the back of the head in their own home would have been a lot quicker, cheaper and more effective.
markm
Should it have went seemless? But something didn’t or the agents forgot to turn up for that part of the training?

walshie
I never thought it was the Russians. The more that is revealed, the more it looks like a clumsy fit-up job. panoma1
With the reported interference by Russia in the US Election and the UK general election, the annexation of the Crimea in Ukraine, the assassinations both in Russia and abroad, the mysterious deaths of Putins political rivals, the military support of the murderous Assad regime, the state sponsored doping in sport, and numerous other 'incidents' involving Russia (which despite the evidence they consistently deny) makes me again wonder who actually shot down Malaysia flight MH17? Or is it all a fit up?

If as said the agent is of Russian origin has it not been replicated elsewhere, I wonder? We have to face the fact that most nations have historically dabbled with these agents and some still are? For our politicos to be acting as they are seems to be somewhat naive without proof?

Hamster
"Military grade" nerve substance that fails to kill its intended victims !? The policeman was allegedly released after a short while only to be taken back ill 24 hours later , Walter White could have done a deadlier job. So deadly is this stuff that they're advising using wet wipes to clean your phones and washing your clothes, strewth if anyone seriously can't see this is an inside job............... Gonna be a bit nasty here and also mention whether anyone picked up on the rather flattering initial photo of the daughter being plastered all over the newspapers (to buy extra sympathy) only for subsequent pics to make you wonder if it's even the same person. ordnance
Or it could just be it was the Russians, they have form for this type of attack. I have to assume the British security services are not stupid and have looked at all the possible reasons if why when who, maybe MI6 should contact some pigeon watch experts for advice. B: No problem boss, make it look like accident, like usual? FSB D: Niet! Use nerve agent, in public in sleepy market town, make sure can be traced right back to us, don't worry about civilian casualty, we deny everything and British will believe us da? B: But, will not cause international incident, just before world Cup and elections? FSB D: Nah, is good.

People keep saying but but but Russia has previous on this...................like every single government on the planet including ALL of Russia's enemies don't ! If it looks and smells like a false flag then it's a false flag, demonising Russia after it's humiliated the axis in Syria and openly issued warnings to the US/UN (same thing) to behave itself and 5 minutes before the football world cup..................like Russia needs that headache right now. Dunno, had killed, Dr. David Kelly is the most obvious one although as is the nature of these things when governments need or want to do this sort of thing they make sure they do it right hence the preposterous suggestion that Russia would make such a school boy effort with this one..............which they wouldn't even want to do in the first place as the guy is a nobody. Does anyone remember that poor MI5 chap who climbed into a bag and zipped it up and "died" ? Did Robin Cook really just drop dead naturally 1 week after a sensational speech in which he said Al Qaeda was a Western/US manufactured non entity being used to manufacture war in the middle east ? False flags are a reality, naive people prefer to call others conspiracy theorists because they just can't bring themselves to accept evil can be on their own side. Or maybe sometimes things are just what they are, no conspiracy. Everyone knows there is evil on both sides, most people just accept that bad things happen and don't need the psychological crutch of conspiracy theories to function in life. You are quite right its knowing who is your enemy. Dublin bombing in the early 70s my mothers cousin was one of the victims. It was found that the trigger mechanism was a highly sophisticated unit that was only being used at the time by our military and even then by specialised units. buze
Actually it makes perfect sense for them to to do it. Yep, they 'failed' but they don't care... Story-line from last time was: + Wait for a nice winter. + Kill some FSB dude using a highly dangerous substance, in plain daylight, and with no care about being traced back + Wait for the UK government 'strong reaction' and 'zero tolerance' tough speech + Have a minor incident in one of the primary gas pipe from the north of russia that convey gas to the UK + Wait for it... Wait for it... wait for it... + Everyone's suddenly a LOT more malleable and a LOT less prone to zero tolerance and tough speech all of a sudden. + Fix the gas pipe. It's exactly what happened last time BTW *two days* after the killing... Of course it was brushed under the carpet, but the bottom line is, they doesn't *care* whether they are caught, or not -- what can we do anyway?
