All out ban and with all the noise over plastic wads. Fibre Bismuth everyone?
Westley
Worrying, especially as steel shot requires plastic wads ?
prem1234
Trust bloody Caroline Lucas to be behind the motion....
wymberley
Keep calm and carry on: the House has more than enough going on to concentrate their minds without worrying about this load of drivel. Can't help but wonder where the figures give came from though: plucked out of the ether one suspects.
Westley
I suspect that GAPES has killed a lot of birds too 🤔
Scully
Haven’t we already done this?
panoma1
Wonder where she got her stats from? I would guess the RSPB....who probably made them up!....be interesting to hear her substantiate her claims! Perhaps she could explain what "gunshot" ammunition is? prem1234
Yes I wonder if they've thought about the amount of lead shot that is reclaimed from clay grounds !!
HighlandWildfowler
Worrying where they get their figures as people will believe them. In all my years of wildfowling I have never seen any bird dead or dieing from anything let alone lead poisoning.

A couple of years ago the 'Lead Ammunition Group' which was set up by the government recommended lead shot be banned....the government rejected their report as biased! The Ban regarding wildfowl was bought in some years ago!

There are fibre wad steel cartridges available now. I think it's inevitable eventually.
bluesj
Didn't Norway ban lead then change their minds for some reason?
PPP
Interesting it had so few supporters and they are all leftie know nothing morons... Clear attempt at anti shooting agenda

The last attempt led by the WWT was for a total ban also, based on the same criteria and claims. As a shooter you’d have to have been on the moon to have missed it! Walker570
Where is the evidence ? I appreciate there was some evidence of lead in wterfowl particularly swans but I think a large part of that was lead weights from anglers. Scully
Personally I wouldn’t get worked up about this unless it grows legs, which I can’t see it doing as it has already been debated and kicked out by parliament. I really can’t understand why it’s been proposed so shortly after the last attempt, unless overwhelming new evidence has come to light which contradicts the findings of parliament. welshwarrior
Hasn’t NZ just over turned there ban at least for small bores as it made no difference

Robertt
I heard that the Anti's have realised they can't eat an Elephant in one go. Thus the tack they have taken is a lead shot ban for starters.
johnnytheboy
This is inevitable but we have to consider that no matter what we think we should fight against it. This become a problem for people who cannot afford steel proofed guns, wether it be financially or because they only go out one day a year and it’s not viable. Most of these people are the life blood of country sports. So we need to consider how we work towards helping these people, how best we advise them about guns to buy or facilitate them into a steel proofed gun.
