discobob
It is being reported that a new vaccine has been developed that is 90% effective against covid - It is a shame that our own immune systems are 99.95% effective against it Discuss
Zetter
But if you have a weakened immune system/ if you get it you chances are slim 90% sounds like good news. After all even if this is released next month / early Jan your average fit / health person under 55 wont see it until June at least as it will be NHS/ those at high risk who will need to get it first. But the under 55's don't need it as it is "just like mild flu if it even exists"
discobob
I suppose I was casting it out there about it possibly being a mandatory requirement to have the Vaccine when the majority have no real need for it

Ultrastu
So who thinks ,phiser the company who is gonna stand to make millions selling it released the virus in the first place ? 🤔
oscarsdad
What a load of anti-vax pseudoscience nonsense. A vaccine will result in herd immunity, herd immunity will protect the vulnerable. it is fantastic news and should hopefully mean the chances of multiple effective vaccines are looking much better and this Chinese nightmare can end at some point soon(ish). Zetter
To be honest its a phenomenal achievement by the people involved in it they have essentially taken a process of 8-10 years and cut it by 80%. I guess there are still those who will think its all some long term control program by the Illuminati along with the fact we didn't land on the moon and the earth is flat. But if you have friends and family who are at high risk and wonder every day if the last view of them may be in an ITU ward with a ventilator on its great news. eddoakley
Come back in 10-20 years when it's been tested and proven not to have long-term side effects. Until then none of my family will be having it. Edd
Scully
If it means we can all resume our daily lives without having to wear masks and squirt sanitiser like it’s going out of fashion, socialise normally, get all businesses operating normally without the threat of more lockdowns, then I’ll be getting it as soon as the opportunity arises. Great news as far as I’m concerned. 👍
bavarianbrit
Pfizer shut down their huge facility in Sandwich Kent around 2011, so now where will it be produced? Ultrastu
So maybe the next step will be any insurance you may have will become invalid unless you can show your vaccine card .(some insurance company's are already not paying out if you have a claim during lock down) And you won't be able to to into a shop or pub without the card . Next step will be fines and worse if found out of doors without your vaccine proof ) Dark times ahead . And I wish It wasn't true but it will come to pass in one form or another . and thats just the bright side . What happens if your socially forced to have it and it creates more health issues than it solves .?

I'm sure the aeroplane you might fly in next could be built in 80% less time, but I bet you wouldn't want to fly on it. I'll be giving it a miss thanks. AVB
I see the journalists are excelling as usual during the PM’s Covid briefing. “If I have an inoculation on 1st December will I be able to hug Granny at Christmas”. It’s always about granny! 42 minutes ago, bavarianbrit said: Pfizer shut down their huge facility in Sandwich Kent around 2011, so now where will it be produced? Thalidomide anyone? Great drug, definitely safe..... Nah, I'll take my chances and so will my family. I was going to go for a pint tonight until I saw that you had to produce photo I.D. And sign up to track and trace to get in. Not liking the idea of being so controlled one little bit and I believe, like others have said, that compulsory vaccines are coming. Edd And, as has been pointed out numerous times on this topic, people still die from influenza, whichever strain it is at that time, and a 'flu-jab' is has been available for years. So this will fall into that category,,,, IMO I believe that there will be no compulsory vaccinations in the future, as there aren't any now ? Zetter
For those of us who are health no issues to an extent if you get a shot or not as you wont be getting one even if you want it till at least mid next year. After all I have never had a flu shot and to be honest dont need one as I have not had Flu since I was eight. However if you are in the category of the population who dont have this luxury and if you get Covid its likely to be curtains its got to be good news. Mainly due to the fact that they will have some protection from those who have been happily spreading it which is why we have a spike now. Yes its been developed fast but we put men on the moon by throwing a heck of a lot of resources and money at it so I dont find it hard to believe that it has been done this fast with the collaboration and knowledge that has been thrown at it. Cranfield
If you don't want the vaccine, that is your choice, I am not sure that it could be made compulsory. I will be pleased to have the jab(s) , just to get my life back on track. At my age I can't afford to waste another year treading water.
