88inch
Being new to PCP air rifles is it necessary to use cleaning pellets occasionally, if so do you use a cleaning fluid too. Thanks.
enfieldspares
I'm sixty-three. I have never cleaned the bore of an air rifle in my life except one that I have acquired that appears that if the inside is like its outside that the bore may have slight rust speckling. old'un
My Air Arms SM100 is 30 years old and I have never cleaned the bore, is it still accurate, does it still kill, yes.
labstaff
I used them in my gamo compact pistol in my youth, not to clean the barrel but so I could shoot little targets in my bedroom 🙈😂
GingerCat
Don't clean it unless there is a problem, you'll use half a tin to lead it back up again. Or clean it everytime. Personally never cleaned mine since being a child and don't ever plan on doing so.
Mr.C
Clean mine every 150-200 pellets. If I don't I start getting the occasional flyer. S400 MPR 177 so Walter Lothar barrel. Edited May 19, 2021 by Mr.C
clangerman
only clean if you have OCD otherwise just enjoy the rifle

ianspire
Depends on the barrel, I've got a BSA ultra that I've had for years, used more than most and never had to clean the barrel and its a tack driver ( if I do my bit ). I've also got a Pro-target with a walther barrel that needs a pull through after 300 to 500 pellets as it stars throwing flyers.
Rockhamster
Out of curiosity and boredom, the first tin of 'decent' pellets purchased I selected 50 at random. These were then lovingly checked for any deformities, washed, dried and lubricated. They then lavished in their own clean foam lined tin for those special occasions. Oddly enough the remaining 450 rewarded me with the same accuracy in every respect. I've not repeated the exercise since. Those who do will no doubt say it's necessary and a must. I'm not one of those. Edited June 6, 2021 by Rockhamster

oldypigeonpopper
Hello, it's always a debate on cleaning pellets as is pellet lube , or cleaning an air rifle barrel, using LT1 solves both
Rockhamster
Your quite right I didn't weigh them or sacrifice a first born - my bad. 😄

villaman
A new gun needs cleaning straight away to get rid of factory protection which they put in . After that only clean when testing different pellets and if your shots aren’t grouping as good
retromlc
My AA S410K doesn't need cleaning, my Steyr LG110 needs a snake bore pull through every session or it starts to lose accuracy
Walker570
I had not had an air rifle for 60 years when I purchased my AA S200 second hand from Solware. I asked then how often I should clean the barrel and the reply was never. It still puts pellets in the same hole at 20yrds, usually to the detriment of a tree rat or two, after ...errr I don't know ... maybe three or four thousand rounds.
