samboy
Hi gang. Got over one of my perms this morning at 5.30. About 7 acres and only saw 1 rabbit. After 2 hours went home. I'm the only one who shoots over there once or sometimes twice a week So god knows where the rabbits have gone. It was a bit chilly so perhaps that didn't help. But will be back next week. oldypigeonpopper
Hello, you might find the weather makes a difference , try a later evening and after dark if have night vision
Scully
If there’s one there will be others. A mate told me he hadn’t seen any holes let alone rabbits in the three smallish fields a farmer asked me to have a look over. I’ve had 17 so far! 🙂
Eddie B
Maybe RHD has found its way to your permission.
dipper
7 acres isn’t very much I have close on 1000 just not many about around here .Could be R H D .
Dave-G
Could be disease - or just they don't stray out of the long stuff under bright moonlight - as we have had the last few nights.
Walker570
Sounds very much like RHD. It will wipe out hundreds in 48hrs but will often leave a few youngsters. They don't normally die above ground so rarely any bodies found.

They reckon rabbit population is down 90% or more (I'm sure I read 96% wipe out) in the North of England / Scotland due to VHD. Doubt they will ever recover to a decent number with it still about. Mixy was bad enough.
macca2017
Last summer, I had not seen as many rabbits around us for years, it was like a population explosion. Alas they almost all disappeared over night. Got to be RHD
WalkedUp
I’ve got to kill some on a field of maize, trying to take a young shot to give him the chance as gone are the days of guaranteed rabbits. He bailed on me last weekend 🤷♀️
samboy
Hi gang. Went out for a couple of hours this morning and never even saw a rabbit. Just sat there freezing my plums off. But will be back next week. Putting a variation in today for a new rifle. Wondering if its worth it or not the way things are going.
Aled
Its a talking point around here if you even see 1 rabbit in a field, just seen one today whilst walking the dog. Very few around here sadly.
Walker570
RHD VHD same disease When it first appeared over 30 years ago it was known as RHD Rabbit Viral same disease. I'm lead to believe it causes massive internal bleeding and the rabbits tend to die underground unlike mix.
Eddie B
Must be twelve/thirteen years, since we noticed numbers dropping here.
Walker570
Good news in our wood/orchard. My wife saw four very young bunnies out playing this afternoon. They don't caue me any problems so I leave them alone but numbers go up and down due to the disease.
Salop Matt
RHD seems of decimated the population around here and continues to keep them away. I miss a nights rabbit shooting but have pretty much come to the conclusion I won't ever see it return. 😭 ATB Matt
dipper
Only have a rifle to head shoot bunnies for the pot .love casserole rabbit with RHD even if it looks clean you don’t really know .can you tell when you paunch them . Who would feel ok to eat them now .?
