Starmer and others are projecting the protesting as "just" mindless Far Right thugs. The implication being they don't deserve to have to have their reasons for protesting taken seriously.

I would say to Starmer read the signs and take them seriously.  Just trying to slag the protestors off by name calling and threatening them is not going make them go away. Talking tough is not fooling anyone when everyone knows you are weak

Hiding behind the police is not going to stop them for long either. The Police have done a great job, brave men and women, but they are going to be too stretched to hold the line if it really kicks off. Besides, it's not fair on the police to be used in that way

I agree with you , they are fellow British people . Wonder how they all feel inside . How many are thinking to themselves.  Do I want to do this anymore.

The left - I'm beginning to think of them as the hard left now - just can't bring themselves to admit the lovely multicultural experiment they thought would materialise just turned into Britain with many foreign ghettos.

They are not the hard left they are the Looney Left. Not bad people probably just painfully deluded. They see the world through rose tinted glasses.  They actually believe that if you treat people with fairness and respect they will return the complement by behaving with fairness and respect themselves

I wish I shared their view but unfortunately I don't. Everything I see suggests that fairness and respect just gets interpreted as weakness to be exploited shamelessly.

I treat everyone with respect - the looney left dont - This is the issue - It all has to be THEIR agenda

They want us all to be like them

Trying to remain considered about this sad illustration of  Democratic life U K style, so far my opinion of those in charge is of having the charisma and being as clueless as a month old donut.

Naughty white far right rioters https://www.facebook.com/reel/3928231830741982

This reinforces the point that ordinary / normal people aren’t going out to riot. I’d have no issue joining those people in a peaceful protest.

Possibly in the video I've just linked you to,  but a pipe is still a weapon, or is it standard attire along with a face covering!

I was just highlighting the discrepancies in the reporting.

Does it matter much whether it was a knife or a pipe ?
Why are they chasing journalists ? Why are they masked ?
Did they stab the van tyres with a pipe ?
There wasnt even an anti migrant demonstration going on in Birmingham !

If I’m gonna be chased I’d prefer the pipe. I’m not trying to justify the indefensible, just querying the reality as I suspect both sides are being misrepresented.

The thing is, and I don't know how many have noticed, all the protests appear to have been directed towards the hotels that have stopped being hotels and have become migrant accommodation.

Presumably because they have been offered lots of money to do so

So what happens when the hotels start to think maybe housing migrants isn't such a good idea after all?

What are the Government going to do with all the migrants?

Town centres need hotels for tourists and business people to stay in

Take a couple of hotels out of the equation and all the local shops, theatres, restaurants, museums lose footfall from the missing tourists and and hence money

Many small places have already had the hotels taken of of the equation, like Leyland where I am, lovely hotel right off the motorway.

Park Hall( Chorley),  popular for weddings had things cancelled with next to no notice and all future bookings cancelled,  this has happened right across the country,  not just in the big towns.

Often double what they can get from ordinary customers.

Wont happen , government will compensate them for any issues as part of the contract.

Build them houses/flats to live in rent free.

I dont blame the hotels, they are a business enterprise, and business is good with all the taxpayer money we're paying to house migrants.
What I dont like is how they are allowed to roam free around towns and villages, bored and idle hands ect...

Yes it's happened in Newquay Cornwall near where I live and the local  shops and restaurants were the first to complain.  That's how I first became aware of the consequences.

Maybe targeting the hotels is cleverer than it seems? I'm not sure clever is the right way to describe it but you get what I mean.

Gangs of marauding face covered Palestinian flag waving chaps in the front page of the Daily Telegraph - video looks pretty shocking.

Control of the streets has been lost.

Not a copper in sight.

Indeed.  But I think the jig is up.

The issue here is the prime minister, and his room-temperature IQ (in Celsius) Home Secretary, are still about as delusionally excited as a blind lesbian who’s accidentally stumbled into a fish mongers.  They have utterly failed to ‘read the room’,  unless the room in question is a trendy wine bar in Islington.

The fact that Musk is calling him out is a sad indictment, ultimately it's helpful though as it forces no 10 to deny there’s a problem, yet again

The people who continue to support the PM for his response to this, who for no particular reason I’m going to refer to as the ‘be better brigade’, are dropping like flies.  All it needs is for a couple for of his front bench to get the message and start revolting (sic).

Oh dear.

Re. hotels, it’s hugely profitable for the building owner to lease/sell them to the company that provides asylum accomodation.
All these small, old/tired hotels were struggling after lock down. Then, magic money tree blooms and the properties are leased to HMG - at full price for every room per night, regardless of occupancy.
As for damage, it’s nothing for HMG to underwrite all losses or damage if that becomes an issue. I presume the buildings already have something similar in place for damage caused by the occupants.

Nice of them to notify the authorities in advance so they can get the barricades up.

Nothing small or old about the two near me, both very nice venues, or at least they were.

Thought they had about 300 immigrants in an old office block on legg street in Chelmsford, thought the protestors would target that or did they not end up putting them there?
