Keir Starmer in Berlin to "reset" Brexit

And I have a very strong suspicion that reset actually means reverse Brexit.

He always implied he would but was too evasive to actually put anything in his election manifesto

The question is, should my worst fears be confirmed, does he have a right to?

Gordon Brown had no mandate to sign the Lisbon Treaty but he did anyway

From the BBC News Website;

UK and Germany agree plan to combat irregular migration
published at 11:41 British Summer Time
11:41 BST
Chancellor Scholz says "he 'can't go back to daily business" after the fatal Solingen attack in which three people were killed.

Scholz says officials are "continuing efforts to contain irregular migration into Germany", and that the perpetrator in the knife attack was "supposed to be deported to Bulgaria", and investigations into why that didn't happen are ongoing.

He adds, though, that Germany relies on immigration and the 20 million people who have been well integrated into the country is a "success story."

Starmer adds that his priority with irregular migration is s to "take down the gangs running the vile trade putting people in dangerous situations", and it is important the UK "takes back control" of borders.

He announces that a joint action plan, dealing with data intelligence sharing, has been agreed today.

Smoke and mirrors, and what is this 'irregular immigration' they speak of?

Hello, Maybe Germany under the Previous Chancellor should not have allowed around 1 million foreign nationals amnesty, 🤔 As for stopping the gangs, Why not get France to do more beach patrols that we paid Macron for 🤔 8 boats yesterday with not a gendarme in sight

It turns out the French police agreed to PATROL the beaches. The agreement never said anything about stopping the boats while they were doing their patrols

We just stupidly thought that one meant they would do the other but apparently it was never actually stated

But the gangs have another trick up their sleeves. They make the migrants wade out to the boats

Once the migrants are in the water they are out of the jurisdiction of the French police

From the BBC News website;

“In relation to youth mobility, obviously we’ve been really clear - no single market, no customs union, no free movement, no going back into the EU.

"So the discussion about a closer relationship with the EU is in that context and within those frameworks. I’m convinced, and I think you heard from the chancellor himself, that we can have a close relationship notwithstanding those clear red lines that we’ve got, and we’ve always had.”

The problem that beset Germany and the matter of illegal immigrants and "refugees" is of course it's past. So desperate are they to seem to make amends that they are loathe to take firmer action that may the give rise to comparisons to 1933-1945.

Everyone is in some way a slave to their history.

America with pre-1865 and the post-Reconstruction era and Jim Crow. Germany needs to confront the problem of 2024 without looking back to earlier times. However moving on for Germany is also hampered by the idiots from the sidelines making "noises off" about "two World Wars and one World Cup".

Those public sector pay increases won’t pay for themselves you know, greedy pensioners must pay their share.   Oh and the hated Brexit wasn’t BRINOy enough, time to slavishly follow every mad diktat that Brussels produces again. Even though every EU member state will just do what they’ve always done, ignore it if inconvenient.

Hello, I do not know but some must be done and soon to stop the Boats from the French shores 🤔

You are missing the point.

Each boatload contains potential Labour voters and input for the "social" industry - social services, translators, the Hampstead do-gooders et al.

Oowee tells us that we need them to pay our pensions.

Why would Starmer stop them?

This, unfortunately. I feel all it'll will be is smoke and mirrors and irregular migration.
