Labour governments, apart from Attlee's post war one, have always been very narrow focused 

Civil Service inefficiency has a lot to answer for in every aspect of the current problem. 

Rubber stamping through benefits claims , asylum claims, not deporting foreign criminals etc

Apparently 98% of claims for PIP were awarded without interviewing the applicants because Civil servants are working from home . You couldn't make it up.
