We went from Jasper to Vancouver, Gold Leaf service, and also went to Vancouver Island so that we could visit Butchart Gardens. I'm no gardener (my wife is), but even I was impressed. No, we are doing “The Canadian” from Toronto to Vancouver. We will break the journey in Jasper for a few days. I will have a search online for the gardens to check them out, thanks for the tip. BobbyH Posted Monday at 08:27 Report Share Posted Monday at 08:27 IF i was to go away aborad again, (I much prefer to stay in the UK), i would go back to California or Florida. Greece wasnt my cup of tea, Cyprus wasnt either. Turkey was okay, but wouldnt return in a hurry...Majorca and Minorca were decent, But Gran Canaria and Benidorm have got to be the best for me.... Do you spend any time in St Malo itself, or any towns in the area
welsh1 Posted Monday at 08:53 Report Share Posted Monday at 08:53 1 minute ago, islandgun said: Do you spend any time in St Malo itself, or any towns in the area The ferry docks at about 8 am and we would have had breakfast on board, so by the time we get off the ferry and clear customs it's about 9 am, then we just go for it, 15 mins in town traffic and it's dual carriage way or motorway literally all the way, the motorway service stations on the toll roads are pretty good for food so we stop for lunch at one when we go for some fuel. We have had a holiday in brittany when the kids were younger and travelled all around the coast and it is very nice some lovely places to see, we think the brittany coast is very similar to the Pembrokeshire coast where we live. For the better weather we head further down France. steve_b_wales Posted Monday at 08:56 Report Share Posted Monday at 08:56 One place that I intend to revisit is the Himalaya's. Back in 2004 I trekked to Everest base camp, and then trekked higher to the summit of Mt Kala Pathar, where I made a cairn in memory of my late son who passed away November 2003. The plaque that I placed is still there, and a very good Sherpa friend of mine regularly informs me that 'it be okay'. I would love to take my second wife to see it, as she never got the chance to meet him. Hopefully, I will achieve this within the next 2 years. Gordon R Posted Monday at 09:19 Report Share Posted Monday at 09:19 In five months were are off to St Ives for the 46th time - we do like it. We will also be doing Devon, Dorset, Northumbria and Scotland. Eldest has a villa, with swimming pool, in Spain, but my wife has suddenly become averse to flying, so that is out. The trek itself from Lukla (fly there from Kathmandu) was something else. Edited Monday at 10:03 by steve_b_wales

markm Posted Monday at 09:33 Report Share Posted Monday at 09:33 Skiing in Feb - France Easter - Amsterdam summer - Florida Orlando. last summer we travelled around Italy, places that were part of the grand tour by train (defno out of our comfort zone). Really enjoyed it, although it was far too hot in early August. Venice - Sorrento - Tuscany - Rome - Amalfi Coast.
amateur Posted Monday at 10:00 Report Share Posted Monday at 10:00 We are going to Menton, Côte d'Azur for our 25th time - we missed a couple of years during lockdown. I used to drive down, mooching along for 3 days, and enjoy what was effectively a second holiday experience, but now we fly.

Gordon R Posted Monday at 10:39 Report Share Posted Monday at 10:39 Quote Drive to Spain is easy and enjoyable as part of the holiday. Sadly, if I go via the tunnel - my wife thinks it's too far to drive. She won't set foot on a cross channel ferry - she gets seasick on a lake. It's UK mainland from now on. Ferry is good, on the way over which is a nght sailing we get a cabin, they are small but funtional allows you to get a nights sleep, we also charge the helmet intercoms and the camera, they have a posh restaurant and a normal one, very much like motorway services, food is reasonable price in the normal restaurant and tastes ok, there is a cinema if you want to watch a film. On the way back we book a reclining seat as it is a day crossing, big comfy seat, grab some food, ear plugs in and play music while napping. Minky Posted Tuesday at 19:26 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 19:26 I'm not really worried about where you end up but in your original starting post you stated ...Don’t bother with UK destinations I need sun 🌞 So most of the replies have suggested somewhere in the UK. SO what have you gleaned from the replies.?
Gordon R Posted Tuesday at 22:22 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 22:22 Been to St Ives 45 times and had rain on two days. The odd overcast days, but mainly sunshine - sometimes too hot for me. That said - we do chose the warmer months - May to September.
