washerboy is ,most likely, the best person to ask re. Footwear - guys such a bad shot he usually ends up kicking his Targets over .

There's quiet then there's dead - was thinking of starting an argument with some hapless soul just to liven things up . As for footwear - I wear my Chameau wellies all thru the winter for about 4 miles a day - no problems with comfort or leaks so far and about 3 years old.

When......Tesco are selling Easter Eggs?

I use magnetic door trips on my Alarm along with various PIR sensors upstairs where the guns are kept - as far as I can see there is no way of getting in without one or the other sensing you - Dogs cannot get upstairs so no problems with PIR's. Whole system was less than £100 - bought 2 extra PIR's and its wireless (battery operated) so no wiring.

After staring out of the Window for 2 days due to the Weather I risked a quick look down the Woods yesterday - first 3 feeders were full and untouched so ,not wanting to go home, I decided to locate feeder #2 that had been relocated several weeks ago. Humming Slip Sliding away, as I tried to stay upright on the icy paths, I managed to finally find a tree with the obligatory red dot painted on it and fought my way through the undergrowth following more Red dots. Joy of Joys - a big fat Tree Rat enjoying a feeder full of Wheat greeted me as I drew close. He saw me and teased me by slowly climbing up into the higher branches and was so relaxed by my presence that I decided to try and shoot him where he was ( not really allowed but the Woods were empty of visitors) anyhow, long story short, he eventually managed to slip away and I lowered the Gun, rather disappointed, only to be faced with another of the blighters on the feeder - less than 15 yards away! Making sure that "what is for Christmas dinner" was no longer a concern for him I set up behind a nice clump of saplings and spent the next hour wondering where all these flaming Squirrels were coming from ( there was 4 on the feeder tree at one point) - many seemed to be just passing thru (do they have routes that they follow?) and only glanced at the feeder before dropping to the floor and disappearing into the undergrowth, but several stayed for a nibble at the Peanuts I had placed on the ledge - 3 more Secret Santa gifts that will go unclaimed come the big day. Light began to fade and a few local School kids braved their way thru the Woods so I called it a day.....4 in just over an hour but I know there's more to come .

I seem to recall that sometimes you can "reset" the window switches by pressing the button down and holding it down for about 30 seconds?

When I first saw the topic heading I thought this might be a recipe .

Check your hoses from the pump to the fuel rail - could be a tiny split losing pressure.

Hi - pm'd you but it seems to have disappeared - would love the veils and the .410 belt if you still have them please, I'm in Winslow but can collect from Drayton or Gun and Country if needs be, cheers me dears, chris.

You pays your money etc das but if I were on a limited budget I would simply opt for a used AA everytime - if you want to Tinker then fine but you will not need to with the AA - so I know which one I would buy.....the one with the Lothar Walther barrel. There have been many complaints about build quality of the HW springer range over the last few years and it's fair to say that there's no smoke etc - the AA, in regards to the TX in this case, only seems to be criticized for it's weight.

On reflection - the firing pin should not be there should it - the trigger sear would catch it as the bolt is moved forward so more likely a trigger sear problem - has it started happening since the weather got colder? - could be grease/oil on the sear becoming thick/gummy due to low temperatures.
-
I'm no expert but surely if the gun fires when you close it quickly, but not slowly, then the firing pin could be sticking inside the bolt?

Forget the manufacturer as you have no connection to them whatsoever - as stated your contract is with the retailer. You need to write to the store manager and advise them that your machine has clearly not "lasted for a reasonable time" and that they have 7 days to respond, if you hear nothing simply pop down to your local small claims court and start proceedings - you can then take a copy of the documents to the store if you like and see if that helps change their mind - if not then enjoy a day in court as they do not have a leg to stand on. Warranty has NOTHING to do with your grievance - you are claiming under your consumer rights.

Would love the face veils and the .410 belt please - don't get to drayton much these days but if you leave them with lou or ginger and say they are for mr.cherry then I will collect them asap - or you could leave them at gun & country if you ever use them? kindest regards, chris 07925290111 p.s. I'm in winslow nearby.

There was a "CHUBBS of Edgware" in 1948 - 84 - then "CHUBBS LTD" 1986-88 in Amersham, Bucks.

This is very interesting - as for supply I think that Lidl do bags quite cheap.
-
Fisheruk - you may well be correct as the previous control method was Warfarin laced Wheat.
-
These are the feeders supplied in the Woodlands where I shoot - don't know who made them but I think they are a few years old - pellet marks have been created AFTER passing thru the Squirrels heads - .22 AA S410 @ 25 yards. feeder 1 feeder 2

Country Cover Club for me - £30. / year - As for home Insurance - does that cover you for accidents or damage whilst out shooting?

I think that there have been too many complaints about the 95 for it to be a case of poor rifle control - I have shot quite happily with a wide variety of Springers for many years but the 95 that I had was simply inaccurate no matter what you fed it - mine was .177. There are many better rifles out there, totally agree with the TX200 comment - sublime bit of kit.

I must admit to being Captain Frosty as I feel the cold really bad. Over the last couple of years I have found that IMHO the expensive Thermal base layers are no better than the cheap ones - I currently use a T-shirt and Trousers from one of the discount stores, pretty sure they were about £4 each - trick with Thermals seems to be NOT to tumble dry them. The next layer is where I have discovered my salvation - Army Surplus Quilted Extreme Weather clothing - I have a one - piece suit that makes me look like a Telly Tubby but is so warm that it's torture indoors, even for a couple of minutes, and a Jacket and Trousers that are brilliant - rarely need the Trousers with the Jacket on. Available on Fleabay.

I was an avid fan of HW's till I bought myself a 95 - one of the worst Guns I've had and not a patch on the 80 IMHO.

I think it's 13 or 14 so far this season but it's still early - there are still a few youngsters in there that will need mopping up over the next few months. Google Earth shows no woodland of any appreciable size for quite a way - about a 1/4 mile there are small Trees alongside the main road and a large area of Parkland about 1/2 mile away but with few trees, certainly none big enough to attract Squirrels. I knew today was going my way as I approached one feeder in the main Wood and a Squirrel sat feeding not 20 yards from me as I prepared my Gun and seat. Most of the Feeders are empty as the chap normally fills them Thurs or Friday but Peanuts seem to drag Squirrels from every hiding place.

I find that, if a Squirrel is on a feeder when you first arrive, it's often best to find a shooting point asap, moving quietly and wait a couple of minutes - they often return quite promptly. Been back in the little copse last couple of days - yesterday I shot 2 and then another 3 today before moving into the main wood. Got home around 2:45 and sent the Grounds Manager my score sheet for the week so far - just got a TXT back saying he has just filled the feeder in said copse and there were 2 Squirrels on it as he arrived - getting beyond a joke . Odd that you should mention midges, Mice, I'm normally avoided by biting insects but one tried to bite my hand today!
