  1. We have a plasters bath fitted courtesy of the FIL. Also have hot and cold outdoor shower fitted, which is a Godsend in the mucky winter months. 3 dirty dogs soon make a mess and with this they are clean in no time.
  2. Had some very impressive lightning at 2am around Melton Mowbray.
  3. Thanks - I got confused between Advantage and Advocate. I was after the latter but might look at Advantage if it's a viable option.
  4. Please show me where.

In a way it gets worse. We've got rid of May but now we've got BoJo. He's done the rallying cry, but who has he convinced? I'm not a fan. He just comes across as a clumsy public school boy who tries to charm everyone. He'll need more than that to push Brexit through and get Parliament back on track. He must be pooping his pants right now. He's got the job he wanted but what a mess he has inheirited. Let's see how many more resignations occur. He might beat May's record. At this rate, Brexit will be the last of our problems. Reckon he'll call a GE?
  6. Define mid-life crisis? Money Job Health Relationship `Happiness` Don't enjoy shooting anymore? Want to buy a convertable/motorbike? Some or all of the above.
  7. Decathlon also do free delivery (and returns) to ADSA stores. I'm not local to a Decathlon store - ordered some shorts and trousers that were delivered to ASDA in 2 days. They were (ahem) too small (I blame the sizing). Ordered replacements that arrived 2 days later - collected those and handed in my returns at the same time. 3 days later the refund was processed.
  8. Not sure if this has been posted so apologies if it's a repeat: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-49008826 The objectiveness of the BBC has been questioned but there are some interesting points about who knew/what and some behind the scenes conversations. Made me feel better that some of my assumptions about cause/effect and back office shenanigans weren't completely off the mark. You could almost make a TV show about it....
  9. This is how I expect it to look when you're done restoring it.
  10. I'm not selling it but I have a L/H Gen 2 Escort and it's a great gun. The Gen 1 got some bad press but the Gen 2 seemed fine and my mate has a Gen 3. The only difference we could see was his gun had extended chokes. Only likes 70mm catridges but a great rough and ready gun (mine is `synthetic` plastic). Hope you manage to find something.
  11. Very lucky to have the Hurricane and then the Lanc go over a village fete 2 weeks ago. No idea how they got that sorted. The Hurricane did 2 passes and a wing waggle and was gone. We thought that was it. 10 mins later I heard this noise and thought it might be the Dakota. There was a big oak tree in the way so I wasn't sure. It suddenly emerged over the top of the tree and was the gorgeous BBMF Lanc. I have a video of it, but I sound like an excited child/girl, so I'll just post the pic. It still amazes me and the sound of the Merlins just gets me every time. PS Flying Legends at Duxford is awesome. I went several years ago and they had 12 Spits up at the same time. They were on the flight line in front of us and watching them start up and taxi was magical.
  12. Barnett Black Widow was awesome. We'd chase squirrels with them and hit absolutely sod all! They would put a ball bearing through a car door though.... Still got mine somewhere.
  13. It should be a good game, as long as we don't choke! We might actually prefer to bat 2nd. Bring it on.

    Hedgehogs

I can only quote what Google tells me! 😊 We don't see any since our neighbour dog proofed their garden and the HH motorway got closed. I miss seeing them.

    Hedgehogs

I built a Hog House to put food in (wet dog food and some dry cat food - dont' use anything fish based apparently). Water outside in a bowl. They seemed to like it and the only issue I had was nextdoors cat getting in, so I made the entrance a bit smaller and that stopped it. "Leave out foods like tinned dog or cat food (not fish-based) and crushed dog or cat biscuits. Specialist hedgehog food is also recommended and can be bought from wildlife food suppliers. Never feed hedgehogs milk as it can cause diarrhoea; instead provide plain, fresh water in a shallow bowl." Or buy one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=hedgehog+box&i=outdoor&ref=nb_sb_noss
  16. Excuse the excitement, but I don't get out much on bunnies anymore. Local horse livery has issues with bunnies digging stuff up - went up last night about 9pm to find a few along a hedgerow. Got close enough and knocked this down @ 35 yards which was really enjoyable for 2 reasons: I don't shoot over distance that often (I usually shoot feral pigeons in feed stores at much closer ranges) My PCP can be a bit variable at times It was just very satisfying to hear the thwack of .22 and see it go down. Brought back memories from 20+ years ago with my trusty BSA Meteor. And it was a lovely evening.
  17. I followed a guy with an old fridge in the back of his pick-up. Not strapped down and on every hill it slowly worked it's way towards the rear. I think he was having a row with his missus as was weaving from side to side as well. I dropped back - it was inevitable. It eventually fell out and sparked off down the road (it was dark). He took a while to realise and stop. I stopped to help but they were both so grumpy I wish I hadn't bothered. I've got the Nextbase 512 and think it's great.
  18. So - based on this, anyone of us can engineer a claim by buying a coffee, stuffing under our arm and if we're not *offered a tray*, we can spill it and claim compensation? This just encourages the `where there's blame` culture and really stupid people. I would imagine the payout was chepear than actually going to court. I'm going to stop working and become a professional claimant/stupid person.
  19. I got bitten a week ago when doing some gardening at a horse yard. Biggest horsefly I'd ever seen - was the size of a large wasp. The yard owner did a double-take when I showed it to her.
  20. Good - that was my choice as well!
  21. Is this your first gun ever? As in you've got your cert and want to get something? You say you'll want to end up doing `practical` shooting - what does that mean? How is a S/A work related? I have a Hatsan `sythentic` (black plastic) - certainly the cheaper end of the market but it's great for pigeon/corvid shooting as it's not too pretty and will get scratched up a bit. It's worked great for me as anything nicer would be wasted on me. I've used it on clays but one clay club local to me preferred people not to use them because people were ignoring the 2 shot rule and putting 2+1 in. I don't think it's an issue at most places though. It's a gun you can't really take game shooting - but that's not set in stone. As for cartridges - mine is fussy and will fire anything with a 70mm case - anything less (67.5 or 65mm) will cause a mis-feed. If I load 1+1 it seems okay. A lot of S/A's prefer 70mm and more cartridge manufacturers are offering 70mm cases. Hope you find something you like and it gives you a lot of enjoyment.
  22. Totally agree. I know we had a penalty saved and hit the post etc, but we could have been 3-3 quite easily. I think that a more clinical team would have taken those chances. We looked very static and naive at times at the back. Houghton was awesome but we were carved open at times.

    Tragic Accident

I agree with this ^^^^^^^ The gun was allegedly unloaded but accessible. The allegedly unloaded gun was disharged but we don't know how. There are vague recollections of how/why the gun was discharged. The real reasons will probably never be known. The gun owner must take full responsibility for the gun/ammunition being available but the other people present have (in my opinion) contributed in some way. That will never be proven. All very sad but totally avoidable.
  24. The Lib Dems are the traditional protest vote party. IMO - they are doing so well this time because BOTH Labour and Tory's are in the doghouse with the electorate. They befriend the disaffected and position themselves accordingly. The European elections were effectviely a freebie, so it would be interesting in a GE to see if the voters actually put their money on them.

    F1 question

I think that anyone who tries to 2nd guess and/or criticise what happened on the track should stick to their armchair F1. As a non-expert, non-F1 driver with only my `intermediate motorway driving` rosette, my view is this: Vettel did what he did Lewis did what he did. The stewards did what they did. IMHO - if they can make the decision to give a 5 second penalty with 20 laps to go, why can't they just tell Vettel to give the place back and let them race on the track to the flag? Even if Lewis does pull off into the distance. At least they are stlil racing. Totally agree that it ruined the race and isn't good for the sport.
