Ran out of cartridges (shame)

I popped out yesterday to check on a field that had just been drilled. When I had a look there wasn't a bird to be seen

I had a little chat to the farmer and decided to go home but on leaving the farm spotted a small field where the wheat was just sprouting through holding about 30 corvids :)

Nothing to lose I decided to set up and see what happened. As I walked over towards the corvids they took off but some just flew around my head unconcerned ...so I duly knocked 2 straight down.

I only had 100 cartridges with me and they were White Gold 28g 8s ............I usually use 32g 6s but had no cartridges left so bought these off a mate who is a clay shooter so had no idea how they would perform on crows.....

I started off in my hide at the edge of a hedgerow but wasn't comfortable and missed a few birds plus some birds were spotting me.

I looked behind me and the hedge was very wide , around 10 yards across so I climbed inside the hedge which offered brilliant concealment as it had a thick roof and nothing could see me to the right or left , in fact I just had a window to shoot straight in front which ended up being fantastic as all the corvids came straight in without noticing me

Anyway I was very pleased with the performance of the cartridges claiming quite a few big carrion crows.

I started shooting at around 12.30 and finished at 3pm as I ran out of cartridges  Birds were still coming in as I was packing up.

I bagged the squirrel as I was sitting in the hedge , he was perched above me chattering at me very noisily for invading his territory ..............
