fishingtex
Hi all, I am thinking of getting a cheap semi auto for pigeon bashing, rather than use my Browning game 525. I was thinking of spending up to £450 for a new one or about £300 for a good second hand one. I would appreciate any information on good guns to be looking at, or bad ones to avoid. Thanks all Tex
Tim85
I have a Hatsan Escort and will change it soon as it usually kicks 2 carts through instead of one which obvioulsy jams it which is bloody annoying! As to others i will reserve my comments as i have only ever used another Beretta Semi, which never had an issue but it was only borrowed. But it was a lovely gun! jmj121
Beretta Al391, cycles anything and easy to clean
Salop Matt
Look for a second gun from the following manufactures: Browning, Berretta, Benelli, Franchi, Mosberg, Remmington, Winchester. Any of these should serve you well !

Being as you've got a bit more money then you'll have a bit bigger market to look at.
TIGHTCHOKE
Love my little Escort, sold the other one to a Mate and he thinks it's a cracker too! I also have a couple of Remington 1100s and have used most of the others in the past, but for the money an Escort is very hard to beat!!!! theshootist
Although everyone recommends the guns they own... take a look for a Browning gold. Mine has been brilliant and you may find one second hand cheaper than a Beretta.
vampire
Beretta 303, or if it had to be something else then a franchi raptor.
bighit1985
Hatsan is for me as well I've used several and owned 1 left handed one which cycled everything 21g clay load. 2in carts absolutely everything. Didn't even clean the mechanism every time out and just kept going and going. Only sold it for a FAC shotgun which surprise surprise is a hatsan. Just got another 3 shot secondhand for my brother and it cycles everything as well.
GingerCat
I got a mint condition Beretta al390 with chokes, key and hard case for 475. Doesn't look used at all and cycles great so very pleased with it. Plenty of Bargins out there in your budget.
countryman
Keep saving and get a Benelli M2, it will save you money in the long run as you wont want to trade it. Chris
poorpeet
Hatsan has never let me down but if you don't fancy that then take a look at Franchi Raptors
Scully
Winchester 1500 xtr, Beretta 303, Browning 2000, Remington 11-87. Have owned (still own two of them) all of these, and never had any serious problems with any of them.

delburt0
If your 525 fits like a glove try a Remington 11-87 in my opinion not much difference in fit I love mine
huds78
I`ve also got an Escort and I`ve only ever had jams using Eley 1sts other than its been fine, Took it out sunday with my mate and between us put over 200 carts (velocity) through it with no problems. I got mine 2nd hand on price and fit in the mossy oak / camo look not really my cup of tea but it works on a practical level however if I were to get another Semi I would look at something like this as I prefer the look of it http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/265082-franchi-712-raptor-12-gauge/?hl=semi
Cawdor118
You can call me a "snob" but I prefer my semi autos like my shoes and bed... Buy the best you can afford, as if your not using one you're using the other! I have done the cheap route thinking "this will do" then you get a jam the very instant you don't need one!!! Beretta all the way for me!
Longbower
A Franchi AL48 Hunter. Or Browning A5. Inertia operated loading mechanism. No gas ports , no O rings, just a simple mechanical mechanism. Old as the hills , as solid as the hills and as Light as a feather, if you are going trolling around the fields. Downloadable Manual of the interweb.as well. All 3/4 Choke, and lovely to shoot. Reasonable prices as well.
ThePestControllers
Beretta AL391 30" use it most of the time love it to bits doesn't matter if you buy second hand of new See one in action on youtube "ThePestControllers" they need a clean as most guns do but thats not a bad thing, looking after your gun should be enjoyable not a chore. and the AL391 wont let you down i have shot thousands of cartridges through it and i mean thousands and it doesn't matter what carts i pick up because they all cycle through the beretta no problem. enjoy Daz
Guest stevo
I have a beretta A300 synthetic and a hatsan extended coke version and love them both . Can recommend either
