ditchman
Now N. Sturgeon has taken over as leader........she is now made it most clear that she will be pushing for another referendum, for the separation of the union....... If it goes ahead..... and she wins by 1%.......it will happen...........so that virtually half scotland says yes and the other half says no.......on such an issue of this magnitude how can 1% dictate the future of scotland.... isnt it really up to the SNP to "convert" at least 90% of the electorate to her way of thinking before ANOTHER referendum is held............ otherwise they will be holding referendums every month !! kdubya
66% of the Scottish people poled wanted another referendum so the decision is theirs it may take 10 years as suggested by sturgeon but it will come again and they will leave.oh and of course that's after we have rolled over and allowed them concessions and benefits not available to the rest of us, and will she be campaigning for Scottish MP's not to be allowed votes on English matters meantime? Nial
The oil output of the North Sea is declining rapidly, they are finding new fields but they tend to be much smaller and harder to get the oil out of than what's been extracted so far. Also the price per barrel has plummeted, their projections were $130/barrel, it's currently at < $80/barrel. This was a massive part of the SNP's financial projections (imaginative though they were) for an independent Scotland, give it another 5 years and I think they would find it _very_ hard to sell an independent Scotland. Especially if they start fracking in England and we're all able to reap the benefits! (There are shale reserves up here but nothing like what there is in the north of England). Also after the last scare I hope they would appoint someone competent to run the unity campaign. I think we're safe enough. NIal. Nial
Lets have an independent North of England KW If it wasn't so serious, the joke of a yes vote would have been Scotland leaving the union after everyone's enjoyed the benefit of 30 years of oil, just in time to stop us enjoying the benefit of shale gas! Blackpowder
Trouble with Sturgeon is she doesn,t think no means no so fill your boots if you could fancy it That woman is a dangerous left winger, dont expect any joy for country sports to come out of the Scottish Parliament if she is in charge. At present the Report of the Wild Fisheries Review Panel makes worrying reading, with their plans for change in the administration of Scottish rivers. The Report is written in a mixture of scientific and political gobbyligook( at least my simple mind thinks so). At present and I speak for Tweed here the river is run and financed through the catches made through a levy paid upon every salmon and sea trout recorded on individual beats. It may not be perfect but it is proven to work and be self financing. What will happen when this administration falls into the hands of politicians rather then the people who work on and own the river.
